I have a project car, it has been sitting with a bad motor for about 3 months, it was left in neutral, now the tranny seems to be froze in neutral, anyone ever had this happen?? It is full of ATF, I had just changed it before it was left sitting

Something is either gummed up from sitting for so long and needs a bit of force or your clutch is out of adjustment and not letting it go into gear.

"Full" of ATF? It should be full it should be about half filled or filled until it starts to dribble out of the filler hole. It should move when the engine is off but you could pull the shifter to make sure its not messed up. I had my Capri sit for 10 years and the tranny worked fine after I got it fixed and back on the road.

it has the proper amount of ATF in it, I was able to get it to move a little today, had my friend who is a auto mechanic with over 30 years experience, it had him baffled as well, the damn thing was perfect before it was parked.

Does the shifter rock side to side in nuetral?

It just won't go forward or back into gear?

This is without the engine running right?

kick it in there, dont be gentle with it.. Mine used to do this, Id beat it into 1st and after that it would loosen up!!

or it could be that the trans is destroyed, and physically wont shift... my t5 right now is doing this.. Thats why I have a 3550 in the mail ahahahah....

It was just seized up, warmed up today and I managed to get it free as far as front to back, shifting from side to side is still tight, the motor in it is a fresh rebuild, we will get it running towards the end of the week, it should loosen up and be fine I hope.
