T5 woes continue... suggestions please

So I've rebuilt (sort of: replaced 3rd gear, cluster and some minor parts (3-4 slider, bearings) all the other things (blocker rings etc) were replaced a few thousand miles ago and look new. It all went together fine and I can shift it into every gear, but now the input shaft is locked up. I can spin the output shaft in every gear, but the input shaft will *not* spin no matter what I do! It works file when the top is off (I can slide each slider by hand into a gear and back , including the 5th and reverse mechanism) and it all spins correctly.

I should add that when all was put together, it was difficult to get into Reverse the first time... once I did, it was easier... that *may* have been when the input locked up but I'm not sure of it...

Any help???? This is the third time I've put this together and it not work - everything is in and was double/triple checked, including required shims etc., it's such a PITA because of all the surfaces I have to clean each time I open it up!!

Sadly, there isn't *anyone* around here who knows anything about tranny's here. I took it to the only "Transmissional specialist" in the area and they tried to charge me $75 for diagnosing as an "internal transmission problem" ... which by the way was the reason I brought it to a *transmission shop*!!!!

So, I'll give D&D a call, otherwise I'm totally stuck.

I did! I put the steel bearing retainer, but the input shaft won't turn even with the retainer off (the only thing I can easily remove w/o going back into it). I did check the end play, but again, I could turn the input and output shafts before I put the top and tailhousing back on. Now I can only turn the output shaft...

I religiously watched the video like 10 times that I bought from Hanlon, and yes, it is a great video, all the more reason I'm stumped.

Could it be in two gears at the same time and isn't coming out with the shifter... for instance, if the shift forks weren't aligned when I put the top on (though, honestly, it's hard to imagine...kindof grasping at straws).
