Drivetrain T5 Wont Come Out Of Gear

Put in a new cluster gear, input shaft, and retainer. reinstalled tranny and now it wont come out of gear, im lost and cant figure it out. need help please.

Was the tranny in gear instead of neutral when you installed everything?

could it be a worn or missing detent ball
