Got my car back. All mods in my sig were done at the same time so it was a different car when I got it back but what a DIFFERENCE! I love it! If you were thinking about it, go for it. Now, I just have to wait to break in the clutch so I can open it up and really see what all this is about.

The Viper T56 and 4.30 gears made my car really fun. When you are hammering it and shift gears the RPM's barely drop keeping my car right in the powerband. Just a blast....

Wondering what you paid for the set up fully installed? Congrats by the way! Sounds sweet.

Reverse lockout

I've got a T56 in my '96 and love it as well. But I am curious what you did about the reverse lockout. I hid a switch by the ash tray. It's still a two handed operation, but much easier than forcing the solenoid.

Congrats, Grappler. Sounds like you're as happy with yours as I am with mine.

mwolson, I didn't even bother to wire my reverse lockout. I just give it a little shove. Combined with the fact that I still have the 5-speed pattern shift knob, the reverse lockout switch makes for great entertainment when Ford sends a tech to pull my car around.

Hilarious Sanchez...lmao
I purchased the 03 Cobra knob....looks great and has the all important 6-speed pattern so I know what to do

I did nothing about the lockout....shove to the side, push forward. Problem solved.

Thanks Sanchez and thanks for answering all my questions and helping out. Yes, I really love the setup. I still have my 5-speed knob as well and I just shove it over into reverse. Only problem (well not for me really) I have is that the wife can't get into reverse now. ;-) Oh well, guess it's just for me.

That was my plan ALL ALONG. A nice little bonus in my opinion.
Actually, she doesn't even want to drive the car anymore. I think she's afraid of it.

Actually, I figured the Stage III clutch would be the problem. I wasn't counting on the lockout solenoid for the win. ;-)

Lockout connector

If you ever need to install the switch for the lockout solenoid, (You must not get cut off for not letting her drive) you can order the connector from your local Chevy dealer. The AC Delco number is: PT249 and the GM number is: 12101857. Ground the black side and run the other through a momentary-on switch to 12V.

I had a lot of fun driving my Cobra up to the Courtesy Chevrolet parts department.

Personally that was originally what I was going to do but I decided to go with a switch setup if I do enable it. With my luck, there would be some time I'm shifting to 5th, hit the brake and go to reverse, unlikely but it could happen. JMHO.

Brake switch reverse lockout

I thought about the brake switch lockout idea, but decided on a switch because I was worried about missing a downshift from 6th to 5th with the brakes on.

Wouldn't that be overkill? It'd be actuating all the time from hitting the brakes.

Maybe tie into the parking brake? Sounds just as easy to use two hands . Plus wimps can't drive your car in reverse.

I agree. To be honest, I don't have any issues getting it into reverse with one hand. The problem is the wife. If not for her, I'd leave it as is. I will probably get another fog light switch, put it in the coin holder(or whatever that is) for the reverse lockout for her. I doubt I will even use it.

Tremec and D & D both recommend a dexron III fluid. I've heard good things about Redline D4, but I went with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF instead just for convenience.
