Hello guys,I"m installing a tachometer in my 1989 5.0 coupe,I just need to know what wire should I hook up the red wire from my tachometer to? That"s the one I need to put a inline fuse on correct?I do see a black wire connected to the ignition ,right were the key goes in.Do I connect there and inline fuse it?

The red wire goes to a switched ignition source that can provide the required current.

The following are diagrams courtesy of Tmoss & Stang&2birds

Ignition switch wiring

For tach power, connect the wire to the red/lt green wire coming from the ignition switch. Or tap into the wiring of the fuse positions shown on the diagram.

The tach must have instructions in addition to the diagram.

easiest way is to get one these and add it to the fuse location for the radio and wire in the red wire to it.. Any parts store stocks them.

I made one of these using a fuse with wires both connectors, but what I need to know is what wire to connect to? Red and green stripe wire I head somewhere is" Power on 1". Is that the wire I should splice my red tach wire with inline fuse?Sorry just scared the car will catch fire.

Red green wire on the ignition power on 1 or tfi? Isn't that tfi for the tack signal green wire?

Use mikestang63's instructions and plug it into fuse position 18 and you will be good to go.

One position is for the existing fuse (#18, 15A). The other position is for the new circuit (5A).
Or just connect it to the Red/Lt. Green at the ignition coil, which is already fuselink protected.
No to TFI.
