I'd like to smoke my tail lenses, but I'm hesitant to just slap some 3M film on the ouside of it. Can anyone vouch for the quality of these things? Is there a better alternative?

heres mine but they are tailight covers. YOu put velcro under the trunk where the light is. Thev velcro has double sided tape and it is VERY durable. I have a hard time taking them off.

Cool - So is the night-time picture with the covers still installed?

How about taillight visibility?

Where did you get them and rough cost please?

Well if you look at the pic drtc posted you can see how bright the tail lamps still are with just the parking lights on. Plus the 3rd brake light is not covered. I leave mine on all the time and haven't run into an issues.

Now the headlight blackouts from GTS are a whole different story haha

That picture looked too bright to be taillights - I thought it was brake lights...

anyone have a pic of the non-gts blackouts? i forget which brands are out there, but i think they only use 3M tape. also, is there a way to take the "gts" off of the lenses without damaging them? that is my only drawback. otherwise, they look great!

you can take a razor blade and shave off the GTS logo, then take some rubbing compound and polish off any scratches you may have left. if you are good, then you can get it off without buffing.

Randy,

If they were the brake lights the 3rd brake light bar would be illuminated. Those are indeed just the taillights.

They are only legal in the daytime or when headlights and tailights are not needed due to weather. I left both sets on all the time on my mustang and never ran into visibility issues or problems with the police.

Check your local laws. I think it's the law here that tailights must be visible 350 feet behind your car and tailights must be unobstucted and visible from a mile away. Or something like that. Just go to your state's DMV website and it should say the laws on light covers.
