Take a look...

When I was looking for Mustang way back in 2003, and i didn't know much about it, and had no intention of tinkering with it, I came across this green Mustang with tinted window, no foglight and spoiler with around 20000miles on it for $16000. Didn't know it then, but that was highland green Bullitt
I didn't even gave a 2nd look as i hate spoilerless look and had no fog light. Didn't even peek inside to see that it has seat that would not hurt my back with REAL headrest, or it had different gauge.
And i bought my lowly GT with spoiler and fog light(which neither of them are nolonger in my car. they were replaced by Rous and Saleen since then).

what was I thinking?

So proud. :D

Orange peel is the effect the paint gets when it isnt wet sanded enough while being painted. If you look above the emblem, where the light shines, you can see the paint has a texture that looks just like an oranges outside, which is why its referred to as orange peel. Most fords come with this feature stock :D

it can also be seen on all chevy's. orange peel can be caused by the paint being applied to thick...it shifts or drips slightly while drying.

orange peel

orange peel happens when....

1.Viscosity of paint is to high
2. Atomization is to high on ur gun
3. Too much paint on a surface
4. paint is old or over catalized
5. Fluid to low
6. Film build is 2.0 or higher
7. white and red=worst colors for orange peel.

Sorry work for honda, we fight it constantly every day.
Its easy when painting a car though cause you can wet sand and spray a light coating. But in mass production there is no time to sand, they got to be perfect all the time, and the first time, although sometimes they are not.
