Taking off drip rails off of 66?

Has anybody tried this? Any tips or advise on negatives on trimming these off will be appreciated?

A lot of people have done this and if done correctly I think it can be a good mod. But I am afraid that a lot of people only shave them and don’t do anything to reinforce the weld that holds the top on. On a uni-body car the top is a major structural member putting this weld under considerable stress.
