Taking out/Putting in Spark Plugs

I am looking for some tricks on giving my car a tune-up. I think I can handle getting out all the spark plugs except the back left plug (back left when you are facing inside the engine bay from the front of the car). So I was just wondering if you guys have any tips/tricks on how to get it out and put it back in, or of any extra tools you have had to use to get the job done. Also, if any of the other plugs are as difficult as that one then please send some advice my way.

5/8 's Spark Plug Socket,
A few Extentions, (not needed for all)

and 30 mins of your time

Its a lot easier than it looks,
Take off the Air snorkel from the mass air to the TB, (Or air Box to the TB if you dont have mass air) Makes it easier,


And for reference the Firing order is you misplace the wires is,
Starting with #1 on the Cap and working COUNTER CLOCKWISE
1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

i know which plug you are concerned with. i cant remember which configuration i use, but as long as the plug was not reefed on, it comes off.
as long as you have a short and long run wobble extension and a good universal joint (read u joint for air tools), you should be fine. i have a real tight ratchet that requires less movement than a normal ratchet, and it helps out.
use some anti seize on the threads and dielectric grease in the boots. good luck.

Hissin50 has got it right on
CaineO just be extremely carefull putting those hard to reach plugs back in and check the plug gap. Stock MAX gap is .054.
Make sure you have the spark plug socket centered and seated on plug.
Get the best angle possible with minimal wobbles so you do not crack the porcelain part of the plug when snugging the plugs down.

As long as you have the proper socket, it is pretty easy. Just do what the guys above say. Disconnect the tube from the throttle body and put it aside to give you better access. Remember to use some antiseize.

A great tip that hasnt been meantioned is, use the socket by itself to put the plugs back in. Just stick the plug into the socket and use the socket as a kind of "handle" to thread them in.

When I still had the air pump connected, when I did the plugs I disconnected the air check valve and all the hoses. Made plenty of room.
