tank gas leak how can i fixed?

hi fellas, recently i have a very poor mileage, i make the all tune up you know sparks, filters, clean the maf egr, etc, and still have a very poor mileage, but this morning i notice that i have an a gas leak, i found a leak where the tube dispenser gasoline meet the gas tank, it seems a wet area, is this common? how can i fixed?? san i put just some epoxy weld in that area?

any help will be really aprecited

If your talking about the filler neck, you can just get a new rubber doghnut for like $15.00 and drop the tank enough to swap out for the old one. Otherwise I am not sure what it is you are refering to.

i know they make a type of putty kind of stuff that hardens, and is designed just for repairing gas tanks,.... i've seen it at pretty much every automotive store. i actually have some, just never used it, but the surface doesn't even have to be dry . never used it, so i'm not sure how well it works, but it could be worth a try.

New gas tank is around $100.
My 89 had enough rust on the top to weep
when the tank was 3/4 full.
I should have changed the tank when I pulled
the fuel pump. I didn't and the gas smell
bothered me foreaver.

Finall sold it......... (with 1/2 a tank)

thanks for your responses, actually it is the filler neck, where this one meet the gas thank, i think changing the doghnut maybe resolve the problem i dont knew before that this rubber part is actually for sale in the auto parts store, now im remeber that when i replace my fuel pump maybe i dont install the filler neck properly, i remember that time i cant installed easy inside the tank, there is an a procedure for do that? i mean, do i need to put the doghnut in the filler neck an then insert it inside the gas tank? or insert the doghnut in the tank and then insert the filler neck?

the rubber donut goes on the gas tank and the filler neck slides into the rubber piece. another thing u could try is to use "seal all" i got it at the zone.

I would do it the right way, 50resto has the rubber filler neck gasket. HERE

Use the gasket. Don't clog up your filter with that stop leak garbage. That's just a bandaid, not a solution.

new edges have that problem all the time. just drop the tank down far enought to pull the filler neck out and replace the gasket.

Gas tank grommet at Ford Dealership too

One more place to check for the gas tank grommet is your local Ford Dealer. I found that my dealer had the part and the price was the same by the time you pay $14.95 for shipping from Latemodel Restoration Supply. Good Luck and let me know how it works out because as soon as the weather warms up I will be fixing mine too.
