Just bought a Taurus fan, and want to know how to install it. Any write ups? Also any tips, or can someone give me advice on what to buy to make this work right? I know I need a relay kit(and Im buying a 3g alternator tonight...) so what else? Help!

Don't know how much help this is- just installed one in my car last weekend. I used L brackets on the top to screw into the shroud, and the existing clips on the bottom. Got black foam weatherstrip to fill in gaps around shroud perimeter. I hooked mine up to a switch in my console running wires through tunnel. Summit has a Flex-a-lite thermostat for $24.99 I'm going to order, tired of watching the guage!

Do yourself a favor and toss it in the garbage. It doesn't cool half as good as a stock fan setup. Doesn't cover the radiator very well forcing about 80% of the fins too cool the whole motor. It's loud and a massive power hog. Expect your wires to get hot and do not use staycons to hold it together, they will burn up and short out. Use at least #8 wire with soldered connections and a pair of 40A or larger relays. On smaller ones the contacts will fuse and keep the fan running all the time or overheat and burn up. You need short wire runs and fuse it at 40A on the slow setting. I tried it for a couple months on the Capri as a track only setup and it was horrible. I drove it home from the track once and dang near burned the motor down... Temp went over 250F at a light and the engine started to die. Friend tried it in his big block chevelle with the same results...

"IF installed right" you should have no problems. I have a couple friends that paid me to install a 3.8 taurus fan (yes the 2 speed version - I found like 5 at the junkyard). All told, none of them see the temp guage really go above the 200 mark let alone come close to it really (referring to last summer). I know it's still a little cool out but the needle on my temp guage doesn't get above about 1/8 of the way, so I don't know what happened to you - maybe defective fan or poor sealing/install?

Try the fordmuscle.com website as they have a ton of writeups on many mustang mods and such.

BTW - how much power were you trying to cool, seeing as it was used on a so called track only car? A fan like this should only be used for a car in the neighborhood of 250 hp or less really. Anything vastly more is asking too much.
