temp guage

i just put a new temp guage in the dash of a 65 mustang and it worked ok for about 15 minutes, then smoke came out of it. i'm pretty sure the two pins in the back where the wires go were not touching any metal, could this be a bad guage or did i mess up the instalation??

i have also replaced the volatge stabilizer as i had the cluster out. the stabilizer volage is steady at 5.0 volts.

Sounds like a bad gauge, send it back before its too late.
