IS the 2.3 in the Tempo the same as the models used in the rear drive cars? If so what parts will interchange?

No they are not the same....the 2.3 mustang is called the Lima engine since it was built in lima ohio. it was used in the 2.3L pintos and now has made its way into the fox body stangs as well as the rangers in that era. the 2.5L that is in the rangers also show some similiarities to the 2.3 since the 2.5 is the same design with a larger displacement.

the 2.3 you have in a tempo is called the 2.3L HSC and was also built in lima ohio. HSC stands for High Swirl Combustion. this engine is not the same and as far as i know, nothing internal will swap over. i think that your accessories are even different.

I wish i could be of more help, but i do not know that much about the tempo engine. i do dbout that you will find many things that will interchange, but i could be absolutly wrong.

It's also worth mentioning that the 2.3L Zetec and 2.3L Duratec don't have anything in common with a Lima either.

FYI-

Besides what was mentioned (and this was probably shown in those links), the Lima 2.3 was OHC, the 2.3 HSC was OHV and had pushrods.

I read somewhere awhile back that the 2.3 HSC was pretty much a 200 straight six with two cylinders chopped off...probably true.
