Sneaky98gt - I can only speak for my State / County / Township. I am a Township Officer think smaller than city bigger than a boro. Highway Patrol is only a small division of any Police Department, and mine does not have one. Typically those Officers do not respond to 911 calls like Domestics, Fights, Thefts, and so on. They deal with Crashes, construction detours, and stuff like that. I'm not going to debate if it is or is not a revenue generator, because its not as simple as my pay v.s. traffic ticket that was only an example, and maybe not a very good one if the aguement is going to revolve around a tax basis, and I dont know what the money is used for when it is sent to the treasury like you suggested.

So let me pose the question... What is a more efficient way to enforce traffic laws? or What would be a more appropriate punishment?
Keep in mind that Officers set up "Speed Traps" at locations which have a high number of vehicle accidents and Fines are set by the STATE not the Officer.

Like I said I can only speak for PA and it is NOT against the law to "Flash" durring the day, however at night if your are witin 50ft of an opproaching vehicle it is.

I'll be the first person to admit that there are "THOSE GUYS" in every Police Department. There are also some exceptional Officers, but wouldn't you rather have a pro-active and productive Police Officer serving your community?

You have to keep in mind what the main goal is for running a speed trap. To slow vehicles down on a certain roadway. They are set up at places where speed is an issue (accidents or complaints mainly).

With the above in mind, if you are flashed about an officer sitting a head, would you not slow down the next time you drive past the same spot? Most likely you would, so the main goal is still reached.

Most people don't understand where the money goes to from a ticket. State legislature splits the money in several different places. EMS, Court, and roadway to name a few. The Borough or State normally only gets half the "fine" section which is half of $25 (majority of fines are $25). This money is given to the Borough in a general fund an cannot be used soley for the police department.

I hate speeders, especially on my street. I see some clowns drive 60 miled per hour in a sub-division with kids playing outside. I love when a motorcycle officer sits on my sidewalk and pulls these clowns over. They have no idea where he came from lol. Dont speed youll have nothing to worry about.

Dont know how you guys in other parts of the country handle wildlife on or crossing the roadway but ill usually flash to warn of deer or other animals on the side or in the middle of the road, we dont have the little mules deer you guys in FL. have, ours go to about 200 pounds or better and will straight up F' up your car and put you in a ditch.
speed traps I usually dont flash that much, state boys have been hanging around in town handing out seat belt tickets and not out busting reckless drivers.

amazing all this time gone by & it still would generate any interest ! parts of Florida & other states do make lots of revenue for the small towns actually it is sometimes there only source of money ...........the new money maker is the red light camera's there head quarters are in Colorado they install & maintain & collect the fines which are then shared with state of Florida better & more money than speed traps ...but that aside its funny how some guys troll sites looking to find something to whine about it sometimes a guy will ask a simple question about a repair & they are treated poorly I haven't posted in a long time because I did notice a private type club click.... there are some decent guys who will honestly try to help & the know it all's & goody two shoes trolls ruin lots of sites & posts tomorrow is 9-11 so this is small potatoes ... still flashing & thanking for the decent return
