I got my 67 shelby clone running and driving decent(although overall rough condition) for $2900 dollars 5 years ago. Heck, it had almost $2900 dollars worth of the Shelby fiberglass on it. Sure am glad I recently decided to hold on to it instead of selling it to start a cobra project.

No way these cars are worth that kind of money.

Although the second one looks pretty good from the outside, but still not for that money.

They are Nucking Futs. I've wanted a '67 Fastback for years, I guess I'll wait until the Elewhore debacle subsides and people start selling their cars at a loss (if that ever happens).

On a side note, did you guys see the Playboy Pink C-code '67 Fastback on Ebay with 3.2 miles that was a no sell at a little over 30k?

No, but I have an old(10 years old) mustang milestone mag that has the Bullit, beverhills 90210, charlies angels and james bond stangs in it. I also has a mustang built for Frank Sinatra and Dean Martins movie called Marriage on the Rocks, and it is the fugliest thing I ever saw. It is a 65 fastback with a targa top cut in, vertically stacked dual headlights, and pointed nose, fake exhaust stacks on the forward end of the rear deck, and among other hidious features is zebra skin inserts on the seats, side of the car, and rear decklid. The backseats are zebra skin inserts with a wet bar inbetween. What a shame.

It really is amazing what they are going for. I've wanted one forever..my mom used to have a K code GT 67 fastback, loaded...my papa ordered it from the local Ford place with practically every option from power brakes/steering to the GT package to tilt away steering and upper/lower consoles. She sold it though for a damn 78 Camaro for about 1500 bucks..never wrecked, no rust at the time, ran like a top. I still have a few pictures of it. I've had no luck in tracking it down though. I can't find a sportsroof to save my life...I thought I had finally found my dream 72 Mach 1....but I finally got to look at the VIN...turns out it was just a plain sportsroof which even though it was in amazing bodywise I passed on it. When I get done w/ schooling and can get a good huge shop for myself set up I'll be getting me one or two. I'm going to be doing junkyard hunting though. I know where some are w/ a good roof, firewall, and partial frame. It's stuff that I can get new sheet metal for and I'm not too afraid of some work so I'll probly be bringing a few totaled cars back from the dead. That's my plan...start hording...I see a good body for a few hundred bucks I'll get it and put it in the backyard to fix up later when I can get a good deal.

you have to remember that is what those guys think their car is worth...and it probably is!! to themselves. They look online and see some fully built eleanor or shelby clone for 80k and think well mine that could be that is worth 6500. if you really want one of those cars...make an offer that you think is reasonable and be prepared to back it up with pricing from other sources.

I agree that fastback prices are getting out of hand, and quick. But I don't agree that the prices are going to start going down. These cycles tend to be one-way only.Many years ago, hot rodders considered the '32 Ford 5-window couple "ugly", and many were used for dirt track cars, since they weren't desireable as hot rods. At some point, they became very desirable and today you'd be hard pressed to get a bare, salvageable body for less than $6,000 and I'm not talking about a cherry, rust-free example ,either. My advice to those who want a fastback of any year is to do what it takes to get one now, because they aren't making them anymore, and more people want one everyday.

Almost turned it into Eleanor of sorts recently. Although the side scoops are a little different, I was going to keep them on, already was set on the back, nothing to change cause I would not have put that fake gas filler on the side. Was going to use my Shelby hood and just order the side exhaust, front nose pieces and fender flares. Have it all painted to match my true blue now and put silver stripes on it. Decided to put all that money into suspension, and drivetrain upgrades though. But I will be keeping it for a long, long time.

For a long time a '67 vert was worth more (fewer made etc.) than a fastback in the same shape. That has certainly reversed now. Just another reason for me to hate the Eleanwhore phenom even more.

Yep, verts in any year used to pull more than coupes and fastbacks. Besides the obvious price spikes on fastbacks though, I have not seen any phenom on the car here. I have yet to see one in person, and I attend several car meets a week in the summertime, and still have not seen one at the Houston Autorama since the movie came out.

I have to agree with these words of wisdom. The prices of a 67 Fastback arent gonna drop off . I cant claim to be ecstatic about that , despite owning a 67. Id rather anyone that truly wants one, be able to get one. Im not talking about wanting one to jack up the price and resell, but the regular Joe that just wants a 67 Fastback for a toy. Im all for everyone being happy.

By the way, It wasn't Playboy Pink, it was Lilac Pink , a custom color. Playboy Pink was a cataloged optional color.
