the best is not working

my car has not been working the last 2 days. I have a '87 lx 5.0. my car has been not wanting to go when I drive. It feels like if you were riding with your emergency brake on or if there was a chain and a truck pulling it the other way. I hope someone has had this problem before because this is my daily driver and I need to get it fixed. it is a manual transmission and when I start driving it just feels like I cant go. the car will drive but I cant go fast, like if you were driving with your emergency brake on but my brakes dont smoke when I am done driving. I jacked up the back part of the car today and started the car. I had it in first gear got out and the tires were spinning but when I had it in neutral the tires were harder to turn. I dont know if my emergency brake on my wheel is stuck or if the brake cylinder is old and needs to be changed. please help this is my daily driver

Get the car up to 30 MPH & take the car out of gear and see how far it rolls. It if doesn't roll very far you may have brake problems.

A clutch would not have been my first guess. That doesnt quite match some of the symptoms pointed out in the opening post.

Anyhow, good luck and let's hope it's all fixed.

You're right... that doesn't match at all

it was not grabbing

the car felt like I was driving with my emergency brake up because the clutch was not grabbing when I was driving. the clutch should bite when you let go of the clutch and it was not grabbing. I put a centerforce dual friction clutch in it last week and now it grabs

It is possable that your brakes are draging an it caused it to burn the clutch up! If someone reads this and has a question as to weather there brake are draging take your hand and place it close to the rotor, feel for heat, then feel the other side and compare. To release the drag (quick fix)take a screw driver and get under the rear and pry the cable back, then you of corse fix the problem.
