Okay, I did a search and the words "tune up" seem to appear in EVERY FREAKIN' THREAD! Now, my question.

I am going to be doing a common tuneup. I don't wanna bring it to a local shop and have them do an hours worth of work and charge me $300, so let's talk what I should replace. I'm going on 25k miles, so what should I look to change?

Fuel filter?
IAC?
Spark Plugs?

What else would you guys suggest replacing?

You can change the fuel filter and spark plugs. If they are the factory plugs
( platinum) , they are probably fine. I chose to run coppers instead. Use antisieze on the plug threads. You do not have to remove the fuel rails. Clean the filter and reoil.

Just make sure air filter oil is dried off before driving or you'll be pulling the MAF to clean it then again won't hurt to clean that too.
Depends on how detailed and how much $ you wanna spend.
Oil & Filter change
tranny fluid change
rearend fluid change
Check TPS voltage and set if needed
Basic nuting and bolting (go through make sure all fastener are tight)
Lube the chassis
flush and fill rad.
check the brakes
check tire pressure (correct as needed)
check lugnuts'
Know I'm forgetting something.
then clean everything up and detail the car.
Good way to spend a weekend

The Haynes manual not only lists service by mileage interval but also shows you how to do it and only costs $12 at AutoZone

Do you really change the tranny fuid on s 5 speed at 25k?? Not a flame.
I would agree to at least check the rear end fluid and top off. Don't be suprised if it is low. I have never seen a rear end that had the fluid topped off from Ford. No need to change the fluid. Checking the lug nuts is a good idea as well as tire pressure. Especially with fuel prices, tire pressure can make a difference. You should not have to adjust the tps on the 99 up cars. Lubing under the car is something I usually forget.
If you do it yourself you shouldn't have more than $ 40.00 invested plus the time.

Thanks for all the inputs. I'll probably be doing most of these things.

Need to change not a must but like I said how detailed, how long and how much $. Also a if it's 3650 which I think it is in this case might be a good idea and help shifts. (edit oopps realized it was a t45)
Diff fluid should be changed alot more often than most people do plus if you have the $ go ahead and get some synt. fluid.
Tire pressure most people never think about it but yeah it's always a good thing to check I usually check mine when I clean the car and hit the tires with tire shine stuff. (about 1or 2 times a week)
TPS to be fully honest I don't think any car with a tps has to have it checked and adjusted. But it is one of those things it's easy and can make a slight difference. And you get to play with tools man
Lubing under the car OH man if I hear 1 more squeaking v6 mustang with flows on it.
Price tag for everything $100-however much you wanna spend depending on what all you do and what fluids you use.
After all I know some guys who just buy new k&n's with every oil change and throw the old 1 away.
