Hey guys. I was wondering how the stock 05-07 GT stacks up against other comparable sports cars? I bought my 07 because I love it inside and out and the motor is great but I never really looked at how it performed against the competition?

Coming from a guy who just bought his new 07 GT last weekend, I did some pretty extensive searching when choosing my new car. When looking at performance first, and appearance second, and both on somewhat of a budget, I decided on the GT.

The only two other cars that I found with somewhat similar performace, in the approximate price range as our GT's, were the Pontiac GTO, and the Subaru WRX. The GTO is a nice car, with great performance, but I didn't feel that the performance was $7k greater than my GT. Plus, you may get close to the performance of a Corvette, but you've got the bland styling of a cavalier. that car is just plain ugly.... they could have done SO much better with the GTO. As far as the WRX goes, it is also fairly ugly, but does perform fairly well. The AWD is a bonus, but the engine is touchy about mods... I've heard of more than a few people blowing up thier motor because of sticking wastegates, huge boost spikes, etc. Plus, if you want any options, you'll be paying over $30k for the car. I got my GT for $24.5k, with exactly what I wanted on it.

In the end, the Mustang GT is really hard to beat when looking at performance and apperance for the dollar. I'm really surprised how much car ford gives you for the price. And this is coming from a life long GM fan. (I know, let the flaming begin). I've always dreamed of owning a 69 Chevelle SS, and had the opportunity to buy it a few years ago but didn't. That is my only regret in life. But when looking for a new, practical car, I figured that I would at least go look at the mustang to give it a chance, and figured that I wouldn't like it much. I ended up buying one that same day. It's pretty amazing what you get for the money, and I'm perfectly happy with my decision. This one car may have converted me to a ford fan for life!
