The dreaded tick

Pull the valve cover and check it out. Fact is higher milage vehicles can make some annoying sounds, find out if its a rocker/lifer, and if you need to worry about it by taking a look.
Im running 10-30 with lucas in it. What should i look for when its off.

You CAN with a buddy start her up even with the covers off..oil will be moving around, but I can be done without a huge ordeal...can very likely help you track down the BAD noise much quicker. Plus a quick visual might help you track it down..hope everything works out.

I had what sounded like a collapsed lifter that just came out of nowhere last week. I pulled the intake to replace the lifter and found that it was fine but the exhaust lobe on cylinder 7 was worn off!:bang: Now I'm done for the season, It sounds like you might have a loose rocker arm or collapsed lifter though.

if it was a lifter, it would be getting quieter as the engine winds up. i got a tick like that after i missed second pretty good, so i got new heads...the thing is, now all of them tick because i dont have the alves adjusted right.

I just installed a pair of new JBA headers and heared ticking. Brought my ride to an exhaust shop and leaking was found on a few bolts AND at the collector where the header connects to the [Mac] h-pipe. They cut the ends of the h-pipe and welded on a pair they fabbed up that fitted properly.

No more ticking and exhaust tone much more solid.

Well i think i found the source of mine. the headers are sealed up fine.. I think that the H pipe and the collector might of come loose from eachother due to the huge ass speed bumps in my development. Im planning on dropping the Hpipe and puttting new header gaskets on to be safe then bolting the H-pipe and stuf back up. Im gonna see if there is a way i can get it tucked up and in there better. This is gonna be a good one because i dont have a garage and have to do it in the parking lot here where i live. Man i miss my grandfathers garage.
