2. Decide to put new oil pan on instead. Anyone who has ever done this WITH the engine in the car knows how much of a knuckle busting, back breaking chore this is.

See, that wasn't so hard, was it?s-code said:WooHooo. I won. I got the oil pan in.
Want to come on over here and try your hand at the 390 oilpan in my 68 Merc Monterey
It's got an annoying little leak in it, since day one, but isn't bad enough to pull the motor
Can't tell if it's the rear main causing it or the CJ windage tray
either way, the motor has to come out at least partially to fix it, something I don't care to do at the moment.

s-code said:Well, I got my Edelbrock Performer intake put on, after 3 trips to the parts store to get the right intake manifold gaskets. You would think that people in a parts store would have some knowledge of cars.
Ares67Coupe said:You would think that, but I have since learned that most parts people just take your information, plug it into the computer (which of course was also programmed by people who don't know cars, just parts #s), take the information, grab what the computer says is right and say here you go. Good luck and have a nice day. That is it.![]()

. well anyway he went to the parts store to get a few things one of them happened to be an oil filter. he told the guy i need a oil filter for a sbc, he said what is it for . then he said again about a 73 to 98 chevy or so. and the clerk got sorta frusterated and said " i need to know exactly what vehicle it is in!" so he said "its in a 1987 ford ranger" after a few moments of clicking on the keyboard the dumbass sais there is no listing for a 350 in a ranger the closest engine in it is a 4.0 that must be what you want. he promptly left
