Since mustang gt is getting a 5.0 modular are there any plans for the GT 500 getting a different motor in the next couple of years?

Well the rumor, and it is just that, a rumor at this point, is that the F-150 will be going to the 6.2 in place of the 5.4 in the near future. I would imagine the GT 500 would follow suit.

I think if they put the 6.2 in it and supercharge it they could safely make over 600 hp. I would just be concerned with gas mileage and weight with the 6.2.

if they make the 6.2 aluminum like they are doing with the 5.4 for the '11 gt500 then it should keep the weight down in the front end. gas milage wise i think throwing direct injection into the mix then it should really help out quite a bit.

That's possible, the new 302 even with 2 more cams and hardware to go along with them still weighs 30lbs less then a 3v 4.6L, so I would guess the 6.2L aluminum would weigh the same as a 5.4L aluminum

I was reading online that 2011 will be the last year for the 5.4 liter in the GT500. I was wondering if anybody else had heard the samething.

Yeah, I need to know real quick, like today! If that is the case, I'll pass on the 2010 (great deal by the way) and wait for 2012/2013.
