My tranny just went in my 95 Vert 2 days ago. I had a T5 and am suprised at how long it lasted really with the power my stang makes. I have been thinking of going to a T56 steup. I like the idea of the 6th gear OD. This get's to my question : with my sights on just over 500 ft pds of torque how are these tranny's holding up? I have seen guys pushing 600 ft pds but they are rated for 400 ft pds ... If anybody ahs any input please let me know A.S.A.P I have to get the stang on the road.

I have also been looking into the TKO 500 and 600 ... Waht would your suggestions be?

Thanks,
Justin

The Viper T56 is rated to 550 ft/lbs and has an even taller overdrive than the Cobra T56. 1st and 2nd gears on either T56 are taller than your T5, though, so you'll need to step up your rearend. Here's a link to a handy dandy cgi script I wrote to compare transmission and rearend combinations: http://www.svtoa-atlanta.org/cgi-bin/trans.cgi

Transmissions and conversion kits are available from D & D Performance at http://www.ddperformance.com.

Sanchez....I let you take this one since your always complaining that I answer these threads first.

According to me: YOU NEED 4.30 GEARS AND A VIPER T56 TRANNY.

Thanks for the info, I found out that the COBRA T56 rated 440 ft pounds torque (rated by D&D Performance) - But they know of cars pushing 590 pounds of torque on the Cobra Model. The viper Model is acctually rated at 550 ft pounds torque by D&D and they know guys pushing 750 on that model.
Some impressive numbers
