I can keep'em spinning for quite a while now....anybody know if there's a break-in period for new gears, though...just wondering because I don't want to have to have my rear end pulled apart again

No break in what so ever for gears. As long as they're not humming or making any kind of noise, you're fine.

This kid on the internet told me 4.10's are unstreetable :(

My break in period lasted about as long as it took me to pull out of the shop, then I "heat cycled" them for about 10 seconds by leaving an outrageous strip while the mechanic gave me a thumbs up.

I heard that too. I also heard that first gear is wayyyyy toooo short and that I was crazy.

I think that was the same kid that was crossing the 1320 at the top of the rev limiter.... in third.

Well, I just took it out on the highway today, and realized that there's a huge howl at highway speeds in 5th....so it's going back to the shop tonight to get sorted out....damn...knew it couldn't be perfect....gggrrrrrr

I was with the mechanic that installed my 4.10's and rebuilt my posi.. In his lot the first time I drove it I just put it to the floor and left rubber marks... ended up going sideways.. After that I just smiled :)..

False.
4.56's would be a little much in my opinion
with 4.10s it is real jumpy and jerky at slow speeds. going real slow in parking lots and heavy traffic i would always have to have the clutch pushed in about half way, the idle wont keep you moving. but maybe that car had other problems that caused it....

Grn92LX is a complete noob, and doesn't know squat....heck, he doesn't even know how to check his oil....:D just kidding

4.56's are the same as jeep gears, i'm sure they would suck at all times...

4.30's? Never heard of em, but man you'll be spinning :nice: :nice: :nice:
