Hi Brian,

Yes we are going to paint it yellow.

As far a black goes, we actually gave it strong consideration, but my wife (who is really looking forward to actually riding in this car one day) said "Yes, black is beautiful, but it shows ever little piece of lint that happens to drift by and it is hotter than all Hell in the summer. Especially with the dark interior." She did pick the color of my last mustang (saphire blue pearl clearcoat) and it was an excellent chioce. She said yellow for this car would be great and while it took me a while to warm up to the idea, I am really digging it right now. I also believe that the upcomming trends are going to prove her choice right. I see a lot of people shifting away from the current trend of silver (the un-color) and going to bright primary colors in the near future.

Another thing is, a lot of people have black and there are a lot of high end built Stangs that are black. Yellow is a nice change of pace and adds to the performance image.

As you mentioned, a "bumble bee" paint job would look amazing. If you could get a hint of black in there it would be stupendous I realize that it is hard to get a good balance of black in there but it would make the car look even more aggressive and therefore So think about a simple stripe on the back end, maybe one on the nose or some other way to bring black into the body.

Oh, I don't remember if you've said what color the interior will be, sorry if I forgot in the 33 pages so far, but if it's black then a black stripe on the body would really look nice!

A stripe across the nose would look like a Chevy, and across the tail would look like a Mopar.

Remember the graphics contest guys? I think they are going with a Boss-esque type motif in black. The rendering looked very cool and emulated how a factory would option a car.

Hi All,

Got quite a bit done over the weekend, but I am now stranded in Boston (for those of you who were wondering where I had gotten off to the past couple of days). I am on a jobsite near the logan airport and am bored out of my mind. I can't wait to get back to Chicago, but it looks like I am going to be here till at least Thursday AM.

I just posted a new update to the website with a bunch of new photos. We made a lot of progress, but a few details were giving us quite a bit of trouble.

The major components of the stereo should be showing up this week. Also, I am getting ready to order the Recaro seats. These should look pretty trick when installed.

Wayne should have the front window pillers and the air intake plumbing painted so that I can assemble those items when I return. Also, he may just surprise me and be ahead of schedule when I return, but I will be happy if he has those items finished so that I can do some wrench turning and assembly work.

If anyone is in the Boston / Logan airport area and wishes to get together for a few brews, drop me a line. As I said, I will be here till at least Wed night.

Hi all,

In regard to the graphics, we most likely will be blacking out the hood as many of you have suggested. We have already painted the grill and surounding trim black. It is just a mater of seeing the car in yellow and deciding if we want to go the blacked out route. I think we will, but we are reserving the right to change our mind if we really like the all yellow apperance.

I'd say its time to get a few photochoppers to put this pic in yellow:

and then get another pic from up high of the hood so you can have them chop the graphics like the various classic hood styles. I know some of the mustang blacked hoods had a secondary stripe outlining the black and some didnt...something to take into consideration.

are you going with a flat or satin black if you do this or possibly a gloss black? I think satin black would look best but that's just me

Also, if you do decide not to do the hood, I would still think that doing the tail-light panel in satin black would set the car off great from the back.

oh, are the front/rear bumpers going to be chromed or body color??

One last thing, I think a pair of fading to nothing black stripes coming from the front fender heat extractors you guys did would look good...kinda like the older GTA stripes but a little different to go with what you did there.

Hi E,

This is the rear interior fiberglass panel that covers the wheel housing. The patched area is where the fold down seat release latch was located. Seeing as we went the rear seat delete route, we decided to smooth the area and fill in the hole that the lever protruded through.

Hi SZ,

If we black out the hood it is going to be gloss black all the way from the windshield to the grill and follow the body lines that intersect the very corners of the grill openings. No auxilerary pin stripes. I would want it to look like the black grill and the black hood merge together.

As far as the back panel goes, I think it will have enough going on once we mount the SVT and FORD logos on the panel. We will have the red and chrom and black tail lights, the SVT and FORD logos and the gas cap on the panel. Painting it black might make it a bit to busy.

The bumpers are going to be chrome although I was thinking about having Wayne paint up a set of bumpers in a matching yellow just so that we could see how that would look.

I kind of like your fade to black idea in regard to the extractor vents. I will have to give this some consideration. If we did it in a very subtle way (kind of make it look like a shadow instead of a black graphic) we could give the extractor the illusion of being much larger than it really is.

I think the car would speak for itself by just being solid yellow with chrome bumpers and no graphics. I think the chrome bumpers and other trim on a 65 would be just enough to set it off. Don't get me wrong, some of the graphic ideas that have been suggested would look good also. If you go with painted bumpers, I'd think a graphic would definitely be needed to break up all that yellow.

Has any thought been given to shaving the bumper bolts for a smoother look?

PLEASE DO NOT PAINT THE BUMPERS!!!

That look is so 1989-1994 feature pages of "HOT ROD", you might as well paint it pink or mint green.

These old cars just don't look right with painted bumpers.

I thought the whole idea of the vent where it was, was to be subtle and inconspicuous. If you draw attention to it with graphics then it is neither of those things.

Thanks for introducing some sanity into the conversation. I tend to agree with you that chrome bumpers is going to be the way to go, but I just can't help but come up with these fun little taskes to keep Wayne busy. Idle hands are the devils workshop. Although, now that you mention it, mint green. Huuummm.....

I'm afraid that my agreement go's with No Graphics. While many of the graphics schemes suggested would go very nicely on an unmodified body, this cars lines should speak for themselves, & not be hidden or disguised by graphics, no matter how well done. O'course it's easy for me to speak, having no time, sweat, or money invested.

yeah, i don't think graphics are a good idea either. I would, however consider having some custom badges made with the SN65 logo or some version of the SN65 and a regular mustang badge. Maybe take the SN65 and combine it it with a miniature 69 boss 302 c stripe or 70 boss 302 hockey strip dividing the SN and the 65.
