Well I am about to have my mech. do a dyno tune on my car so that all my new mods will work well together. But first he wanted to look everything over and make sure that there wasn't any problems with anything. Well everything looked good except that my timing was set at 9 degrees and he said that my spark plugs were gone. He said that there was two different kinds of spark plugs on there and that the electrodes (I guess that is how you spell it) were pretty much gone. You see when my cousin put my motor in he tried to set the timing by listening to the motor and on the first try we got to looking at the headers and they were glowing orange. Well we set it were we thought was right which turns out to be only 9 degrees. My mech. wants to bump the timing up to 13 or 13.5 degrees and then change the spark plugs and then put it on the dyno to have a custom chip burnt for it and be done. I just want to know do you think that i will notice a difference when bumping up my timing and simply changing my spark plugs? I know 10 degrees is stock but I have done a HCI swap and should be set much higher right? Just let me know what you think.
thanks

Hmm, wouldnt the guy set it at 10* and let the chip take care of all advance changes?

Plugs are about as cheap an item as you'll find and yours sound like they've seen better decades. Replace them - it will help with throttle response and at high RPM if nothing else.

Good luck.

I don't know if that is he plan are not. I have been getting some bad higher rpm bucking when I get on it. Maybe that is from the plugs being in such bad shape. But as far as the timing thing I don't know if he plans to set it himself or let the chip do it I don't know. Thanks for the help. Keep it coming.
