going to install the tri ax tomorrow anything I should know before the install? is it pretty easy? I did a pro 50 on a fox body one time... samething??? let me know thanks

Silicon and remember to clean the other silicon off before applying the new coat. Make sure none gets in the tranny.

Don't forget the little black piece that goes on the ball of the new shifter, from the old shifter where the linkage meets up.

thanks for the help guys... I got the shifter today went to install (didnt get far) I need some tool to take the shifter plastic piece off.... do you know what im talking about??? if not I will try to go into more detail thanks...

what plastic piece....you dont mean teh outer plastic piece that goes around the boot, that just pops out

what the hell..... I haven't checked out the MGW website in a while, but I ordered an MGW shifter with a Blue handle a month or so ago and it is AWESOME. I have not missed a shift since i've had it..... but whats with this 'Orange' handle? Whats the difference?

from my understanding of other threads, they did away with blue and red and now have a hybrid orange... but this is JUST what i have read in forums.

If you order an MGW now, you will get the orange one no matter what, it is a combo of the other two, and it WILL NOT fit your MGW, dont even try it

thanks everyone it was just the piece that pops out! stupid me... anyway its in now what a great mod!!! if you still have the stock shifter change it... night and day with this mod... and I dont think it matters what shifter you go with any of them has to me 100 times better then the stock one!
BTW the shifter is sweet!!!

Doesn't bother me if i can't get that handle..... i just hope they didn't make some kind of improvement in the shifter to make it even more badass than mine already is...... then i'll feel like i just wasted $180 on an old model

Welcome to the shifter club

One thing that makes it even better IMO is to fit the stock upper shaft to the tri-ax it requires about 10% more effort.
But the shaft with the rubber peice between the two shafts makes the shift smoother and stops the stupid ally gear knob from getting too hot

i reciently got the steeda comfort pro handle... honestly this made the tri ax even more useful. i would fully recommend it, not expensive and brings the handle over about an inch close to you.... the boot fits kinda funny but the feel is worth it.

i'm gonna get a pro5.0 shifter soon, I drove my friend's car and i love that thing. he also has a spec stage 2 clutch that i think i might pick up when my clutch goes.

If I were you, i'd get the MGW shifter, man. I used to have a Pro 5.0 Shifter on my car. The guy before me installed it, and yeah it seemed nice for a while until I started missing a lot of shifts. I switched over to an MGW and I have not missed a shift yet, and the throw on it is slightly shorter than the Pro 5.0. It's barely a noticeable difference but my MGW shifts a whole lot smoother than my Pro 5.0 ever did.

I've tried:
Tri-ax (5k miles or more)
Kirban, a special order shifter (1k miles)
Pro 5.0 (10 miles on friends car)
MGW (500 miles and counting)

the MGW OWNS all of the rest in EVERY aspect:
quietest, shortest throw, best quality, etc
