Okay I am on my second set of center mounts for the sway bar. The first was wrong and now it looks like the second set is also wrong. Might be right after all? Let me explain. I needed the mounts for the rubber bushings since someone hooked a tow chain up to the sway bar.

If the new mounts raise the sway bar up about a 1/4 to a 1/2" will it make any difference? I doubt anyone has ran into this issue as I hope no one else is stupid enough (It was not me) to yank a car around by the sway bar. But maybe someone can help me out with this.

Here is some pics to help illustrate my issue. As you can see, if I use the new brackets the sway bar will be raised up higher. Is this going to be okay, or will it mess something up?

You might run into clearance issues with those mounts. I remember researching those sway-bar mounts when I needed to replace mine. I recall seeing pics of the sway bar making contact with the oil pan afterwards. I's straighten out the stock ones if you can and just run a set of energy suspension bushings in there.

Thanks for the response Brian. I will have to take the other side off then and take the brackets to dads to smack them around with a hammer. My vise is buried under a building that fell in over the winter.

Its proven to be more of an issue than I thought. I need to spread the mounts in order to get the bushing in and not having the workspace is a major downer. Back to the drawing board and posting a WTB add with crossed fingers.

Someone else had sway bar/oil pan clearance issues on here not too long ago. Lemme see if I can find it...

Dunno where it went...

Anyway, I remember from that one that if you don't space the new mounts down to the factory level, the sway bar will hit the oil pan.

Think I am going to see about having someone make some spacers for it out of steel block. I hate to have play in the steering after all this. Pump, hoses, cooler, and the rack are all new. This last "Little" issue is driving me nuts. She's been sitting for almost two years.
