i think i will still keep the rods and the block looks to be good, but i would like to get some of my money back b/c the heads need work (if they can be fixed) and it needs new pistons.

i'll have pics of the damage tomorrow

Damn man, that sucks. Good luck getting some pennys out of him, looking forward to the story behind it.

He should at least man up and pay for the rods/pistons if not also whatever labor is involved.

considering the rods are $1,364.39 from summit.
seeing that price makes me feel better about the whole deal.

i cant afford new rods. the whole reason i bought the shortblock was b/c it was suppose to be good. the fire wasnt bad at all. it was from the intake up mostly.

does anyone know how i can get the rods checked to make sure they are good?

my car is fine. i bought a built bottom end and viper spec t56 from a guy on MPH. it was only suppose to have 2000 miles on it. i bought the cobra engine for $1500 from intake to oil pan. when i tore it down the rear 2 pistons on the drivers side were trashed. the guy failed to mention that the engine had smashed 2 plugs and had low compression on those cylinders. anyways the pistons are junk and one of the heads is too. now i'm trying to get some of my money back, or at least get him to buy me new pistons. i will be installing the viper tranny soon to make sure it is ok. i paid another $2000 for that.

he knew the engine was junk. in fact this is what Tim posted

Tim @ MPH said:
You knew for a fact the motor was hurt,I also told you it sounded like a cobra fuel pump had went bad and caused a lean condition. Your car had way more than 2000k miles on it and was over 1 year old. Detonation is caused by lack of fuel,in your case I believe that a pump went down over time and caused it since we have seen this happen before.
You knew for a fact it was down on compression on 1 cylinder and were told to bring it in. Instead you decide to screw a person on this board with a bad engine?

Chad,do your thing.

Wow man, here you are an honest guy thinking he's just getting a good deal, when in fact you're getting screwed, and the person selling you is very much conscious of this fact. Sorry, there isn't much I can do to help you except wish you good luck, and I hope all this gets resolved quickly, and in your favor.

*and I hope MPH holds a burnout contest on this guy's nads
