After seeing all the cars on here that have gone to the older style of throttle body I am seriously considering going with the older style as well. I already have the instructions on the swap but was wondering where the best place to find the parts are? And for all those that have done it have you seen any change in the way the car performs? I just think that it looks better than the 94-95 setup.

I went to a local salvage yard and they had one Fox...I scammed the throttle bracket off that...You can post in Corral for the pcs you need...Lotta guys have extra stuff lying around...One guy sent me a throttle cable free...
TPS/IAC can be had no problem...I must have 2-3 of each...

Most noticable thing to me was the throttle response...Its crisper, more responsive...Way easier working on things to, especially if your not running smog/EGR...I dumped my STB also...Tuning it was simp to..

ABSOLUTELY TRUE

You could find this stuff on Ebay. I got mine from another canadian stanger except that cruise cable I had to get from a Mustang junkyard from the US.

Do it, I'm sure you wont regret it.

+1

i contacted a local guy on message board who parts out mustangs all the time.

he gave me everything i needed minus a cruise control cable. still need one actually.

throttle response is insane compared to stock. when i started to pull away from my driveway, i gave it the regular throttle like before but i peeled out instead HAHAHA

this was with a stock fox upper intake and throttlebody.

You can run whatever MAF you want to run. I had a Pro-M 80 on the end of a Fox CAI i bought off ebay. This time around, i will be building my CAI out of stainless steel tubing and black silicon elbows.

a question about intake tubes. i am also converting to an explorer upper and 70mm accufab tb. i am using the bottom of my 95 cold air intake and my 95 maf, but it looks like a fox body maf tube wont make the distance to the tb. i was thinking of trying a speed density car tube to see it that fits, anyone ever run into this? im not big on the home depot sewer pipe look, so im trying to use factory style parts

I wasnt referring to your post at all. I was just looking for advice on this subject. I like your idea, but i dont have the skills personally or the equipment to fab up something real nice like that. i do like the black silicon connectors idea. Im just looking for someone who may have been in the same boat as me with the 94 style cold air intake lower bend.

RIO5.0- Do you have the egr connector from the wiring harness side. I have the EGR sensor and connector but I need the connector that plugs into that. At least I believe that I do. I can't use the one that is in my factory wiring harness right?

Special skills? Nah....the only thing u need "skills" is to drill a hole for the IAT sensor. Other than that, you can make the cuts as rough as you would like as the silicon connector will be over it. All you would need is a drill and a dremel/saw. You could also get 45* connectors if u dont want the metal tube to make the bend. Or order U'bends and have a straight connector. Your choice.

Im sure someone out there has done what u are trying to do. I heard that with Fox body swaps that 96+ CAI's work...v6 setups work and fox body CAI's work. I tried a fox body, didnt work too well for me. I ended up leaving the air filter in the engine bay right by the fender. You could save time and frustration just building something yourself. That way you design it to fit on your car...and you arent trying to use another design meant for another car on your car.

I had the 93 Cobra set-up and the EGR and our plug plug was the same...I personally didnt run the EGR but others have and said it does connect...Few guys are running them...Tim and 18mustang names ring a bell for those who do run em...
Hope that helps..

RIO5.0 - Sorry I didn't mean egr, I meant TPS. It was late when I posted, so everything I said but just TPS instead, do you have one of those. Thanks

Yeah I know I could do that but I want to be able to disconnect the TPS easily. I take it you mean that I should splice the connections together without a connector right?

Sorry about stealing this thread, it is related but I guess it isn't really mine. Sorry!

I wish I would have seen this thread before starting another one. When you guys say "all the parts needed", what exactly are they? I have the upper intake along with the 65mmTB I can get. What else is needed? Can I get the TPS from Advance? I have no smog or egr, I clogged the egr from the lower intake as well.

All this, and add a cruise control cable in there if you want to run it.

The plate is the EGR delete plate, available at UPR or on Ebay.
The cable is the throttle body cable
That bracket is the TB bracket, which screws in that EGR delete plate
The TPS itself youy cannot see it in that pic but it's screwed on the tb already.

u can get the iac motor and tps from advance yes. but they arent cheap. a junkyard is the cheapest route. if you dont want to use a egr spacer, youll need a egr delete plate so you have a place to mount the throttle bracket too. oh yeah, you need a throttle bracket and 86-93 throttle cable as well. if you have lots of $$$, everything you need can be bought new from www.50resto.com but they are expensive. i just bought a new ford throttle cable and it was 59 dollars. but the rest of the stuff i got off of an old 87 mustang upper intake. all u need to really do is check out the thread i have linked to below. everything you want to know is in there.

If you don't have the connector/plug, which seems to be the item everyone is always lacking, just use bullet connectors...I used these on mine...
Simply cut the wires and use these to make the connection...When setting the TPS voltage as you do is pull em back to expose the metal and connect your probes....Slide a lenght of wire loom over all 3 to hide em...
I used these to wire all my AM gages in one shot to power from my parking lamp...This way I didnt have to crawl under the dash for power...Plug & play...
