Thinking about changing over to 93 throttle body?

Thanks guys. I will print this out. I have the 97explorer intake laying around at the house so I'm going to port it and it already comes with the tb, and bracket. I need to see if it comes with the tps and iac, (I hope so). So I will have to switch out the throttle cable, is that complicated. Also, I currently have the c/c cable on there but I have no c/c so i'm deleting that was well. How about the wiring, are the cables on my car the same color as on the fox?

Nacho...Just as a heads up....
If the TB you have is truly an Explorer you may run into this...The Explorer TB has the ball, to which the Fox throttle cable connects to, on the opposite side....I ran an 96 Explorer set-up with Ex TB myself...when I was setting up the parts I came upon this..

You can see how the throttle cable is off....A Fox TB has the ball on the Right...You can see the Ex is on the Left..and its not gonna work as the cable has to connect to the ball just as you see it..I was like W.T.F. ??? when I dry ran the set-up and not knowing jack about Fox TB's..



I opted to use the Ex TB and had to cut, reposition and weld it to the proper side....To this day this is the TB I'm using...The Ex TB is a 65mm to...
You can take a Fox TB apart to remove the blade/ball assy and then swap it into your Ex TB...I took the easier route...
I could be wrong, bit Ex TBs are known to be backwards to the Fox unit...

Thanks a lot Rio, I'll be sure to print it out and keep it in mind. A buddy has two or three laying around, I'll just switch it out. Also, if the TB already is a 65mm, I'm so damn lucky. How can I be sure? The bracket that the TB has is the one I need? So basically all I need to get is the throttle cable? Wouldn't that be bad ass.

Also Rio, will I need that plate? Should I just get the spacer?

How can you be sure of the size ? Well seriously take a measuring tape and measure the INSIDE of the opening of the tb and you'll have your answer. It should be dead on.

You need the EGR delete plate as that what allows you to bolt the throttle bracket up..Then find a throttle bracket to...

This is the Explorer i was running...you can see how it assemble's...I used studs in the upper, slid the spacer on, bolt the bracket..put the TB on..

Thanks guys. I had forgotten but my intake is off a Mountaineer. I looked at the TB and it has that throttle ball on the right side. So I guess I lucked out on that. Can I use just an aftermarket spacer they sell for the 93 setup? Do they have the holes for the bracket?

Right here...This is where I got mine..and yes they have the holes for the bracket.

Good deal on the TB...Saves some hassle right there...

Not sure as I'm not a Fox guy, but never seen any of us use that EGR spacer...
Maybe someone will chime in..

All the guys I know with a fox are running one of these, so I don't see why not. I mean it's the same price. I just don't know the purpose of it.

Your right...They have Foxes and they require that style spacer to run EGR...you stated your not running EGR so that spacer is gonna kick you outward an extra 2" thats not needed...and will add to making your CAI being a sharper turn...
You can run it, sure....The one in the link I posted is less clutter and will look better....
Not being a Fox guy I cant even tell you if the Left side of that is open for an EGR valve to bolt up to it???...If so then you'll need a b-off plate to seal that up...and you have holes on the top of that that used to run water lines that will need to be blocked to boot....
Look up some posts and I dont believe you'll find a SN95 running that spacer...
What upper are you gonna run???

Once again Rio95, you da man. I was wondering what I was going to do with those lines. The throttle body already has one which I'm going to have to plug. So three of them would look nasty. I guess all I'm missing is the throttle cable, need to go junkyard shopping when I get a chance.
