I have 4.30's in a nitrous car that is daily driven and no problems your only going up about 200 RPMs every gear size. Remember with 3.73's your going to have to run a 26 inch tall tire

What about the speedo gear and whatnot? What would you guys put. I would at least want it very close, if not dead on what speed I am travelling. I just got new tires and I forgot their height, but new tires is out of the question.

Go to 5.0resto.com They have a nice drop down menu to help you get the correct speedo. After the swap / gear drive correction, my speedo was more acurate and bounced a lot less than the old worn out unit that it replaced.

subscribing, And i have some other Q's: I know i need the gears, the speedometer gear, do i need the installation kit if im going to have a shop do it? I'll get the tlok rebuild kit, but is it worth it to also get the installation kit along with it, or will the shop have that stuff.

well which ever gear you get you wont be dissapointed...
its not like 4.10s will give good sotp and the 373s wont.

your almost doublling the tq to the wheels so you'll feel it...

Is it really doubling the torque? I thought the difference between stock and 4.10's was more like 50%. So wouldn't it be a 50% increase, rather than a 100% increase (like you said)?

Or does torque not work like that?

You won't gain rwhp with a gear swap.

Double equals 100%.

Go with the 373's max in your situation.

I like mine and you know how picky I am I hope...

I definitely agree with FoxFan88 with the 3.90 gear, it's the best gear because it's awesome for the street and great for the quarter mile runs as well, my buddy with a fox-body has a 4.10 and he plans on changing it to a 3.90 gears

I don't really like the 3:90 gear ratio because it isn't made by FMS (ford).

I say stick with the 373's at most for your setup.

grgt, i gotta friend with a 90 gt, x cam, edelbrock heads, cobra intake, etc. he has 4.11's w/ a stick. he can barely use 1st gear! he only uses it when racing. it's so short. also i don't think i am incorrect, even ford recommends 3.73's or 3.55's for a stick 5.0.
