Thinking about geting a fox 5.0

I am thinking about geting a 5.0 gt. Are a DSM. What kinda MPG would i expeact to get?? Like intown and on the highway this car is stock 5 speed.

I drive about half in city and half highway in my stock lx 5.0 5 speed and I got 18 mpg last time I checked and it could use a tune-up. It kinda depends on how you drive the car really...

Like what do ya'll get intown and out on the highway. I am guessing 17 maybe intown keeping that foot out of it.

never estimated in town but i got 22 on the highway with my 4.10's and c4 tranny

Also what rearend gears did the 1991 come with stock??

'91's came with either 2.73 or 3.08 gears, either way you want to ditch them. You should get between 200-300 miles to a tank which holds 14.5 gallons.

dsm's break a lot.
Fox's are much more sought after if you know what i mean. they are seen as a performace car, and everyone knows that.

The gears will stay for awhile. Seems like they get about the same MPG's as a DSM. Ya'll might think i am crazy but I just love how 5.0's sound and I never really owned a fast car so just work my way up. And I love the fox body style. The reason for a Dsm only import i would own.

I get usually around 18 or 19 in the city. And i don't take it that easy... i like to DRIVE my car!

I used to get 26 mpg on the highway with completey stock 87 gt.

then i added off road h pipe and under drive pullies ,I now get 31 mpg.
intown i get ****ty gas mileage with the stock 2.73's.

If you are stock woth 2.73 then how would you get bad mpgs in town. Are is it cuz if u had like 3.73s you would have to give it less gas to take off are what?I'd be happy with 17 are 18 intown.

I believe intown a set of 3.55's or 3.73's would get better gas mileage, aslong as your foot isnt too heavy, because it takes less power to get your car going upto 60km/r, in stop and go traffic.

thats my theory on it.

I shouldnt say i get all that bad gas mieage in town, i got a heavy foot in town, if i took it easy in town im sure i could get 20mpg.

I was going to get a DSM, but then I saw how much maintenance was involved with them, there is no power until you hit 3000RPM's, and if a timing belt breaks you throw the car away. IMO they are fun but not worth it. A major fix on a fox is like 1200bucks, a minor fix on a DSM is 1200bucks.

believe it stands for diamond star motors, it was a pact between mitsubishi and chrysler not totally positive, if im wrong im sure someone here will correct me, but anyhow when we refer to the dsm's its in reference to the eclipses, talons, etc.

When mine had exhaust and CAI I got 23 around town and 29 on the highway!

DSM stands for Diamond Star Motor, which means it is either an Eclipse, Talon, or Laser!

Exactly, they are all built on the same platform but have different bodies ect. The AWD turbo's are nasty on the launch but don't have the same torque as a fox. I have seen them run stock against a 5.0l stock and win though. The FWD versions have trouble with traction on the launch though.
