Ok heres the deal ive got the following

96 gt 5 speed 3.27 gears
JLt CAI
PI intake
American thunder catback

Im wanting to install a OR H pipe and underdrive pulleys, will these mods do anything power/economy wise? or is it just going to have nicer looking pulleys and sound better? ive got 175k on the clock and im sure the cats are crap by now (all 6 of them) plus its just too damn quiet! it ALMOST sounds like a mustang should... Anwyay wondering if these upgrades are worth it or not? anyone have a american thunder sound clip before and after or h?

Save your cash for heads and cams. Trick flow heads for that matter. The difference on an NPI car would be simply unbelievable. Nothing else you bolt on will come close to comparing.

I plan on eventually doing a ported PI head swap and some cams but now it gets about 700 miles a week on it and i dont want to tear into it. Im hoping that OR h and UD's will increase mileage a bit right now i see 23/25 with some full throttle sprints every tank. Plus the fact h pipe is extremely rusty sagging and probably not far from leaking.. I know a guy about to sell a high flow catted X pipe but dont know if that is going to sound good with flowmasters, what are the pros and cons between them? no smog testing here so thats not an issue

If you rack up miles the pulleys will pay for themselves. Only buy Steedas. They are great.

The off-road pipes will be louder and may make slightly more power. I dont know if it will be raspy with the flowmasters. Someone else will have to help. I have Magnaflow catted X and catback.

You honestly won't see much power with either mod. Underdrive pulleys make 3-5hp, and removing the cats will free up a few more, and will increase the sound and the smell from your car.

I always tell people to be careful because while you don't have smog, running your car without cats is a violation of Federal, not State law. If you're at a light and the cop is having a bad day, there's nothing saying he can't pull you over and write you up for a hefty fine of up to $10,000.

If you've got Flowmasters, stay with the H-pipe.

IMO the O/R-H should be worth but I'd get it with headers at the same time. Idk about pullies for your car but they were a waste of time for my car.

I disagree. Pulleys and an offroad H pipe are worth a solid 3 tenths and 3mph. I have documented it on 2 of my 3 2v's.

You will definetly be violating the federal law of not running cats on a car produced after 1975 or what the year is. I picked up a solid .1 and a little over a 1mph with similar sixty foots and DA's in my 98 at navasota raceway with just pulleys. We did the mod in the pits on the same day. We also tested a BBK cold air kit and lost a little power over a kn and removing the silencer.

The offroad mid pipe is worth a good .1-.2 and 1-2mph. You won't be slapping on a blower, but you will notice a gain with these 2 mods. I would strongly suggest you add the Steeda TA with your pulleys. My sig shows the numbers I ran on my car with 150k, and crappy 2.73 gears.

These are the first 3 mods I would do to a 2v unless you have plans of adding a blower.

ditto on the O/R pipe making more power. My 97 gained an easy 2mph and .2 in the quarter with just an offroad H pipe. I spent under 150$, the car sounds much better and installation was very simple. It was worth it.
As for gas mileage... I wouldn't expect a measurable increase from either. If you want better mileage, buy a low rolling resistance tire and up the air pressure. Don't expect to turn or stop well though. Old spark plugs and dirty air filters can hurt mileage too.
