So I've wanted to get a nice paint job for a while and finally did. I took it to the best shop in my area and paid them about $4000 for a sweet paint job. It looks great but the first time I really got on the car I I saw stuff coming up over my hood. I got out and the paint is chiping of the front bumber cover. Then I drove it hard a little more and now I notice there is paint coming off the doors and front fenders as well as the front and sides of the car. I brought it back to the shop and they won't do anything about it. What should I do.

Well that's why I went to this place because the say they waranty their paint for 1 year as long as it's taken care of. I just went over there this morning and talked with them. They told me that I did not qualify for the waranty because my car is too modified. They said it has too much torque.

That's what I think too. They told me they started this new policy because they painted another Fox mustang a few years ago and the same thing happened. I guess it was a mid 11 sec car, little bit faster than mine. The paint would chip off when you got on it.

If they didnt tell you that you didnt qualify for the warranty initially, you can sue the piss out of them... if they didnt tell you prior, and you didnt sign anything acknowledging the warranty void, then they are sh1t out luck. just mention a lawyer and the better business bureau, and thier attitude will change

I wouldn't know whether to scream or piss myself laughing in the guy's face (or laugh and piss in the guy's face...) if he said that to me.

Definitely bring it to court or get a lawyer to send them a nice letter; there's now way they're going to walk into any courtroom and believe they have a case.

Too bad you don't live around me... I'd kill for the chance to go down there with you

Man up and call a lawyer... he won't charge you more than a couple hundred bucks to send a letter down there and then they'll kiss your butt or give you a refund my man. Don't let that go

So am I. Pics please.
This is funny...Kinda. funny like, These guys seriously think they'd get away with this. And to think...Some people would just say "ReallY? My car is not under warranty? Okay...See ya." Not me. Like Dave, I really don't know what I'd do. Laugh and piss or Scream and piss. LOL.

If a company really told you that then there are the dumbest people on earth. The type of action you have would essentially be a breach of contract and breach of express warranty.

The first thing I would do is get someone (possibly an attorney) to write you a good letter to the company outlining what happened, what you did and then what they told you to do. SEND IT CERTIFIED. This really serves two purposes: 1) you are expressly giving them a chance to remedy the situation 2) when they fail to fix it, you now have proof that you gave them a chance to fix it and honor their warranty but they failed to do so (legally you have to give them a chance to fix it). In your letter, also let them know you intend to contact the better business bureau if they fail to cooperate.

You will then need to check your local district justice or magistrates office (i.e. - small claims court) to see the maximum amount of money allowable for their jurisdiction. Often times the maximum is $4000 exactly. So if you had tax etc, you will either have to go to the next level of court (usually at the courthouse) or sue for only $4000.

Whatever happens, sounds like you really do not want to take your car back to these people. Good luck and hope this helped. I would really consider getting a somewhat decent attorney if your small claims court does not have jurisdiction.

Wow that is really crappy. My guess is if you had the certified letter and maybe a call from a lawyer they would realize that you are not footing around and will take the fullest measures to ensure you get what you wanted.

I think they will settle instead of going to court. I would not take it back to them to be refinished though....take your baby elsewhere

Well all I know is I'm #$@^@%& Pizzed. Everytime I hit the gas I have paint coming in through my windows hitting me in the face. It sucks. The guy said that becasue I don't have a 12 point cage the car isn't rigid enough to hold the paint under flex.
