This doesnt look natural...

So I changed my oil a couple days ago for the first time in the new(to me) car. Pull off the oil cap to fill her back up again and its covered in white! I'm thinking its no big deal because my other car did it over time(granted it was a much smaller amount); I just figured no one had cleaned it off in a long while. So Today I go out and check the oil, all the what crap is back! It has been super cold here, does that have anything to do with it? I haven't seen anything like this on other cars I work on. As far as I can tell I am not loosing any oil or coolant..

Also, on my 2000 I used to put in exactly 5 quarts of oil. I put in 5 quarts in the 2002 and its a quart low, does it really take 6 quarts??
 
I don't know what was in it because this is the first time I changed it. I imagine it was last serviced at a ford dealership (because they used a ford oil filter) so I would guess ford oil (which I hear is really good). I used mobil 1 5w30 w/a ford filter.

Im having problems with the tranny already as well :(; I want to get it running tip top for the spring when I start modding the hell out of it. I would hate to use all the money I have modding and have something go out on me...
 
That is just the oil going milky white do to not letting it warm up at proper operating temperatures before driving,basically condensation build up,or the opposite,Pre mature warm up,continuous rev holding to warm up the engine faster,and quicker,and when it cools down in the cold,that is what you get.
So if you are....starting stang,drive to destination,turn off stang, with no warm up when you first start it,then shut it off just as the engine is getting warm,this is the end sesult,especially when the temps out side get colder.Doing this continuously,will obviously leave you what you see right know in those pics.
Or sitting and holding the throttle to warm it up quicker.
Short trips in the cold is the worst on the engine,it doesn't allow time for the engine to warm up to temp "properly".It's like putting a fresh hot meal in the fridge,what happens,it starts to condensate once it hits the cold.So similar situation in one way.LOL!
Up here in the GREAT WHITE NORTH,Canada,you will see that threwout the winter in many cars/trucks.The first time i saw that with my first vehicle in the winter,i was like wtf,and my mechanic at the time explained to me the cause,so now i let my cars warm up a bit before driving,and i get to work a bit ealier,and let the car idle a tad more (since my job is 5 minutes away),this way it allows the engine to get to it's proper temp,and run at proper temp for a bit,then i will shut it off.And i have not seen that issue ever again since doing that.
No matter what oil brand you use,this will continue to happen.
I'm not saying this is what you are doing,but may be part of the reason. :shrug:

ahhhh, thats probably it. Ever since my other car got stolen by me warming it up I have been parinoid about getting car jacked.... I guess I just need to get that damn remote start working!

Are you doin the remote start install?? I have the parts to do it as well and really want to install it, but nobody here in CA will do it on a manual trans. Anyone know where there might be a writeup for something like this?

I could do an install write up on it sometime, the only thing I dont understand is the neutral safety switch. I am convinced the tranny has some sort of a NSS anyways, so when it gets warmer I am going to get it up and running.

I had mine all wired but got mad because it wasnt working right so I put it all back to the way it was. Turns out I had a blown fuse and everything was hooked up right; IM AN IDIOT! :nonono:

What i did was install a switch between the two wires going to the clutch sensor; this way I could disable remote start if I wanted to AND I could flip the switch off and still have my cruise control.

Use a compustar remote starter if you are putting it on a manual, because they have a neutral safety switch built in. Then you need to hook it up to the parking brake for your ground. The easy way to get around the clutch is to just connect the two wires for the clutch switch and the car will think you have it pushed in when the remote start activates. The smart way to do it is with a relay, so you can ground out the clutch switch using the trigger off of the remote start.
