ok this is what im thinking about doing

i have an 88 gt 5.0
hopefully i dont confuse too many people

i have the vortech sc so my alt moved to under the smog pump

i currently have the belt running this way. starting at the crank pulley, it runs up around the water pump down to the alt then up around the smog pump which is right over the alt now. from there it goes to the ac compressor which is not even hooked up then down to power steering and back to the crank pulley.

o man that is definately confusing as hell but i have no idea how else to say it.

i am getting an electric fan and electric water pump, i wanna get rid of the smog pump and the ac compressor.

would it be possible to run the belt around just the 3 pulleys from crank pulley over to the alt in its new position under the smog pump then up to power steering then back crank pulley?

i guess my main question is would the belt clear an electric water pump if it was going right over it? how far does the electric water pump stick out? and how would i run a tensioner on this setup?

feel free to call me a moron for confusing myself.

i hope i can get someone that can help though

thanks guys,
steve

most people have a smog pulley there which almost makes it work. There problem you will run into, and i will have the same problem in the spring, is that the power steering, which i assume ur moving up, doesn't sit as high as the A/C did. There for, the stock tensioner will hit the water pump pulley. Some have said get a smaller water pump pulley, others say get a bigger PS pulley and i think you might also be able to move the tensioner a little to help. Regardless, i dont think you just take off the A/C and smog and run a shorter belt, nothin will line up.

Edit: re-read your post and saw it was an electric pump. This might be a little different, but i dont really know so i will let someone with more knowledge chime in
