Ya my cali special has fake scoops...I hate it. eventually I want to make them functional. get rid of te hood for a heat extractor XD
I hope they keep the same exterior theme. I mean, I love the bulge above the rear wheel and on the hood. However, I'd like to see the rest get smaller. The Mustang is more a muscle car than a sports car, so I'd like to see the body (mainly the rear end) get smaller. I'd compromise with just not having such a low rear bumper. Same Big Engine! Even smaller body. I wouldn't mind seeing less fake scoops too. Maybe only optioning FUNCTIONAL scoops? The only thing I like about the '13 hood is that the vents are functional.
I don't necessarily think that moving away from the "classic styling" is a bad thing. After all....the most popular Mustang ever built was the “black sheep of the family” Fox body. Not only did it last 15-years basically unchanged, but it boasted none of the classic cues of the models before, or after it. It just makes me nervous when I hear "European styling". There have been a lot of really nice cars designed across the pond, but there have been a lot of really not so nice ones built either. And I’ve never looked at any of them and said....man, I wish the Mustang looked like that. I just hope they don’t go too drastic with the changes, to the point that it doesn’t resemble a Mustang of any sort at all.
The SVO was built to resemble and compete with the Euro trash 4-years into the Fox Mustang run.....which it did quite well, as it was also one of the ugliest Mustangs in recent memory. The Fox Mustang was built on a cookie cutter chassis, with low dollar production and a small car theme to keep the smog police and the bean counters that ruined the Muscle Car era from the 60's, from ruining the 80's like they did the 70's. We were lucky enough to get aggressive styling to help us forget the ugly mess that was the Mustang II.Hate to break it to you, but when the Fox came out, everyone GUSHED over all of the EUROPEAN STYLING of the car. Which got even MORE European Styling on the SVO Mustangs.
Also at the end of your paragraph, you contradict what you said at the beginning. The Fox looked nothing like it, but was still popular (albeit with European Styling); and you hope the new one is not like this.
It could be the return of the Fox.

Reflecting a European design influence, the nose, grille, and raked windshield had a cleaner, more aerodynamic look and feel.
In fact, this curiously fresh pony car, with its snappy European looks, bore no resemblance to any previous Mustang.
Early versions of the Fox-based Mustang (design exercises) showed a squarish body with a jutting front-end section and tightly snipped rear. As further designs were carried out, the new Fox Mustang took on a sleeker European look. Ford produced two show cars, the RSX and IMSA, that pushed the limits of the Fox chassis.
Styled by Ghia of Italy, the RSX show car had a distinct European design, with more attention to aerodynamics for both efficiency and looks. This would be the focus for the next generation of Mustangs.
