To clean the throttle body, is it best to remove it to clean? I’m somewhat anal and can’t see doing a great job with it on the engine. Any reset/relearn procedures after cleaning?

Yes and Probably

I like this stuff:

https://www.amazon.com/Berryman-Products-0996-Arm-Chemical-Fluid_Ounces/dp/B077Y1YSZ5/ref=sr_1_17?sr=8-17

Besides, new gaskets and hoses are probably a good thing at this age too.

Also: You can keep reusing that stuff --and-- the one I have is 5 gallon (bigger parts).

Otherwise, you can do a pretty bang-up job with some brushes and a several cans of carb cleaner too.

Just uh... don't use any of this stuff on your anus.

Well, installed new plugs, seven of which the old ones came out in two pieces. Removed and cleaned the throttle body and the intake. Cleaned the motion plates. Car still does the same thing

I don't know what a "motion plate" is.

What is this and what are the list of steps you followed?

Finally:

What are your current KOEO and KOER codes?

You never did say what "the same thing" was/is. You only asked how to clean a throttle body.

We got some dudes in here that can work magic but you're making it really hard.

I’m sorry I posted this on an incorrect thread. My first thread about all this was after about a five minute drive on that highway speed, 65, when I get to the exit ramp, I just kick it out of gear in the engine idle would fall down and die. I could walk it down through the gears and it was fine, but if I just kicked it out of gear in neutral, the RPMs would die and it doesn’t do this any other time other than after of a few minutes on the highway.
So I installed new plugs I took the throttlebody off, cleaned it really well. Took the intake off cleaned it out real well clean the motion plates then reinstalled everything. But it didn’t make any difference in the car dying after a sustained highway speed.

now i can hopefully expect to receive the shaft

Are the ‘motion plates’ those butterfly valves (IMRC if I recall?) like on the 4.6mod motors? I’m thinking of those things on a 98 cobra, because mine were bad when I owned one many years ago.

We really need codes.

From 1986 through the most recent Ford vehicle ever made: You got to start with codes.

You’re correct. I will check for them when I get home later today. I forget there may be codes even without a check engine light
