Throttle Kicker Solenoid

It is the IAC or IAB, same part, different name.

See the "Surging Idle Checklist for help with all your idle/stall problems. The first two posts contain all the updates to the fixes. At last count there were 24 possible causes and fixes] for surging idle/stall problems. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions.

See the following website for some help from Tmoss (diagram designer) & Stang&2Birds (website host) for help on 88-95 wiring http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/engine/ Everyone should bookmark this site.

Codes 88 actually means a few things

88

Throttle Kicker Solenoid
Variable Voltage Choke relay circuit fault
Fan Control circuit fault
A4LD - Converter Clutch Override solenoid
Electronic Ignition - IDM, DPI or spout circuit fault

That's 5 things for one code. And which ones depends on what car. Mustangs don't have throttle kicker solenoids. At least I wouldn't consider the IAC one.

It's definitely not the middle 3 as you don't have a choke. You dont have an electric fan and your car doesnt have an A4LD.

I think yours is the last one.

Electronic Ignition - IDM, DPI or spout circuit fault

With that said...is your SPOUT unplugged??

checked the spout connector and its in place

I did the FMS AC delete and repaired an old cracked vacuum line that I broke when I dropped a wrench and soon as I cranked it afterwards, car sounds cammed and its not..shakes the whole car at idle but oddly enough it doesnt stall. Engine hunts idle when slowing the car down and goes back to choppy idle...jumpy acceleration at low rpms but fine at higher

Did the carb cleaner vacuum check at all areas and no jump in idle

Maybe bad IAC or TPS?

thanks for responding :nice:

checked and its still on...when I was working on the vacuum lines I have like 3 vacuum T's on there and one vacuum coupling lol....could it be all the T's restricting the vacuum maybe? Its those T's that will fit different hose sizes and you just cut off the tips to the size you need

thanks
