Throw out bearing? Help

Well I started feeling a different feeling in the clutch the other day and a noise is coming from under the hood. When I push the clutch in it goes away and The shop I have been taking my car to told me my throw out bearing is going out. My dilemma is that I have longtube headers and this is going to cost me more money because they will have to pull the k member and take the passenger side header off. They told me 600 to 800 labor and then the price of the part. Does this sound right? And are there any different aftermarket throw out bearings or do I just have to get another stock one? Any help with suggestions and such would be greatly appreciated.Thanks:SNSign:

take the longtubes off yourself then go in there even if u have to haul your car in. you'll save 6-8 hours of labor there. But i would do the work myself and replace the clutch at the same time.

See I have no way of taking them off myself. Maybe I can find another shop thats cheaper.And my clutch is new it has like 4k miles on it.

why was the throwout bearing not replaced when the clutch was replaced?

The TOB won't hurt anything man. Leave it in there, and deal with the noise. When the clutch goes out, THEN replace it

I've heard that if you let the TOB go to long it can damage the shaft.

That IS possible, but i have been told by someone who has been in the field for MANY years that the "chirping" i hear isnt going to hurt anything. Only a couple thousand miles after I put a new TOB in I got the same noise back, but it hasnt really caused me any problems. I have driven the car somewhere in the neighborhood of 7-8k miles with a chirp and no problems

The throw out bearing was replaced. The Ford HD clutch kit I bought came with one and Ive only put 4500 miles on the car since install. Is this a common problem? I Plan on going to the track again once I get my supercharger on but should I consider getting this fixed right now or just wait until it goes out completely? How much do you think it should cost to fix. The parts only 32 bucks but I dont want to get killed on labor.

Take it back to the shop that installed the clutch and see what they say.

I did they said 600 to 800 labor because I have longtube headers. Is there absolutely no way to pull the tranny with longtubes on?

i have the same issue, only i know it's because the 2 lips that the TOB sits on, its kinda half on, so it vibrats on the 1 lip when the tob isnt being pressed on the pressure plate.

so imo take off the clutch dust plate, and see if it's properly situated on there...

By design if the clutch is adjusted properly the TOB would not even be touching the pressure plate and therfore would not be turning at all when the clutch is all the way out.

If there is a noise and the TOB is not touching the pressure plate when the clutch is let out all the way, then it would have to be either the pilot bearing or input shaft making the noise.

My car's tb also rattles some. My wifes Mitsubishi Eclipse tb has rattled loudly from day one. We had it at the dealer several times. It seems it's a on going problem with V6 Eclipses. Her cars tb rattles when the clutch is out alot louder than mine. The Eclipse has 92000 miles on it and the clutch still works great. We just live with the noise for now. If and when the clutch goes, then will deal with it. Pearl02.

Try adjusting the clutch and/or spraying the TOB with white lithium grease ...

my tob has been making noise for 25k dont worry about it. for 800 bucks you can get a louder exhaust and then you wont hear it anymore.

Like I said before, it won't hurt anything. Deal with the noise, or get LT's

Thats a good idea but if you read my sig Ive already done that and I have the loudest freakin exhaust ever! Can you feel a vibration in your clutch pedal when you rest your foot on it?
