Should run pretty healthy, although like you said it won't show the full potential of the engine.

My buddy ran junkyard stock GT40Ps on his old 347 and it made i think 340tq and about 311hp. Not the greatest numbers but it ran really strong.

Those are the most realistic numbers I've seen "posted" in a long time. Most people think it's the cubic inches that "bolts" the numbers on... when in fact it's the topend that brings it all out to the table.

Call Thumper, I'm positive he'll answer any questions you have. I'd be willing to bet if you're going to put money in an OE iron head, he'll suggest the GT40Ps over the E7s.

run what you have. The heads are easy enough to change latter. A lot more than heads are required to make big numbers. You'll need a matching high rpm intake, and cam as well. Sure they would be nice. The biggest thing is to know that it won't run with the big dogs. It can be a hell of a lot of fun. Put a gt-40 style intake on it with a ported lower, and a mild cam. The best part is you won't need a lot of gear. I ran with gt-40s, cobra intake, a crane 2030 cam and went 12.8s in an AODE equipped 95 with 3.27 gears. I added 3.73s and didn't go any faster since I didn't have the rpm range.

As long as you don't put a big cam or intake on it that trades low end for top the heads can't support you should have a really nice daily driver that is still fun to romp on.

I would just shell out the money for aluminum heads, esp with patriot performance. You can get a set of heads for under 1k fully assembled, just drop them on and go

Here's the craziest thing...that engine split 3 pistons, so he built another one and went off on it and put Vic Jr heads on it, a Systemax Intake, a custom cam, roller rockers...you name it, everything. It made 299hp and i'm not sure on the torque

He got the car home and found out the ebrake cable had seized up so that might've had something to do with it and he's gonna have it retuned to see how it changes.

I don't have a sticky on here?!?

I got kicked off ******* just for posting a 347 with e7s graph.

That is pretty interesting to see what stock gt40p picks up over e7s . . . thanks 85_SS.

~9.6:1
347
homeported e7s
stock valvetrain
f-cam
holley systemax

308rwhp, 360rwtq.

I would think 330-340rwhp is possible with maxed out P heads and a custom cam . . .

I think you could make more power with a different setup...he was using one of those Chinese EFI intakes and an X303. I think with a properly tuned carbed setup and a better cam you could make more.
