tickets/pulled over

over the years i would say something like 4-5. mostly speeding.

Although I currently have a clean record (knock on wood) I wasn't always such a safe driver. In fact it wouldn't be a lie to say I used to drive like an idiot. I've been ticketed for everything from my car being too low to doing 85 in a 55 (on my way to the DMV to get a motorcycle license). I once ran a stop sign in Arizona and while the cop was writing the ticket, a car came screeching to a stop with a young man in the back seat who had been shot at close range with a shotgun. Did the cop let me go? HELL NO!!! He simply checked the guy's wounds, out radio'd for an ambulance then went back to writing my ticket. I was once following a car that was in the left lane and going about 10 mph under the legal limit. I flashed my lights (it was daylight) to let him know I would like to pass, and he spiked his brakes, so I flipped him off. Unfortunatley it was an unmarked car and he wrote me a ticket for following too closely, for which I had to do a full Saturday in traffic school, sweet. On the plus side, since I've gotten a bit older, I realize that you may actually have an opportunity to get out of the ticket if you keep your mouth shut (believe it or not, most cops have heard your story before and don't seem to need hear it again) and act (even if you're not) sorry. Of course I could simply obey the law, but where's the fun in that?

Only one ticket, but it was a biggie! Rear ended an insurance adjuster in my 1st Stang, a 65 coupe around 1973. She got me for just about everything wrong with her 66 BIG BODY CHEVY. I've had a lot of close calls, but luckily, no tickets. The last was when I punched it off a stop light not realizing there was a patrol car next to me, sneaky officer.

My first and only ticket was in 2001 I believe. I was following traffic on a large 4 lane road in my '66. Officer was driving in the oncoming lane, lights came up, and he pulled me over in a parking lot. My little brother had no idea what was happening (I had just picked him up from school). It was for 64 in a 45. Sadly, my speedometer didn't work at that time... Needless to say, I fixed that problem shortly after. I'm pretty sure it was because the car was vintage burgundy with primer orange front fenders. Yeah.. my car was a piece of crap back then. That was $300 and 4 points, but I got it reduced when I went to the court.
The next night after that happened at around 1am, (in the '66 again) I was going the opposite way on the same road. This time doing the speed limit . My friend and I were arguing about where we should go next and when we decided, I turned onto the road to go whereever. There were no other cars on the road. As soon as I made the turn, the officer turned on his headlights, then his other lights (he had followed me). He said I was being suspicious, because I didn't use my blinker and I didn't have a liscense plate light (I fixed that too) He searched me, searched my friend, and put us in his car. Then he searched my entire car and trunk. Twice. Then he got us out and searched us again. He didn't even clean up his mess in my car. He tried to be friendly with us (to get us to admit to something, drugs, I'm sure), and an hour later we got a warning and went home.
Acouple weeks after this incident, I was with the same friend as before and another one. We were walking back to my house after a nice stroll at around... 1am. (I used to work 10 hours a day and would be awake at night) We made it to my street and got "pulled over" by 3 cop cars. I got searched 3 times by 2 different officers. (I guess I'm just that goodlooking) Then the "bad cop" proceeded to curse and shout bs in my face for about 30 minutes. An hour later we were let go with nothing.
They piss me off sometimes...
After those times, I haven't had run-ins with them.

My last ticket was in December, 1965. Put my 1 1/2 year old Mustang convert in the Ford place for 24k checkup, while I was visiting home. They gave me a new Fairlane GT to drive, as I had some errands to run. Back then they didn't hook up the speedometer until the car was sold. Anyhoo, I hit a radar trap doing 62 in a 55 zone (I thought I was doing about 55 or so...). I lived in Maryland then, so when the HP saw my out-of-state DL in a local dealer tagged car, he started doing all kinds of checking. Anyway, no way to talk my way out of that one. Had to borrow some bux to drive the 400 miles back home.....
