my 04 has this ticking sound that I keep hearing. I hear the most if I rev the car up to like 1700 or lower and let it settle by itself, it has this ticking kind of sound.....is that normal?? I dont' recall hearing it before but I can hear it now and it bothers the hell out of me. thanks,
chris

Yep, same here. Mine does it too. I think it's fairly common from what I've heard.

Yes, mine does it too. I've taken it to two different dealers and they both say it's normal..

sounds like something is broken or rattling around or something of the sort. I really don't like it, although I am glad to hear that it is normal and that my car doesn't have problems.....anyone know what the sound is, obviously the engine but what is ticking to make that noise

Well it's a relief to know that others have that problem. I've been flipping out thinking that I had problems with my heads or something.

yep...exactly what it sounds like. I only hear it up to about 1800 or so but it is noticable....so is this a normal sound or abnormal like a problem. it is almost like a fluttering sound.

it is really noticable when the car is settling back down to a idle rpm from being revved or moving in traffic

i drive next to the highway barrier, or backing into my driveway, and the ticking is so loud and constaint as i raise the rpm's. it just gets faster and louder as they rise, but then the exhaust note takes over and i cant hear it anymore.

mine seems to be much louder after the car is warmed up.

Ticking sounds are normally exhaust leaks.

That is a CLASSIC exhaust leak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get is fixed ASAP! The culprit is probably where your catted SLP X Pipe meeets up with the header on the passenger side.

Get a flashlight and look into your passenger side wheel well. Push the plastic cover aside in the wheel well so you can see the x pipe connection. If the leak is as big as you descripe, you should be able to see the gap.

You need to get this corrected immediately because your a/f will be totally messed up. As air gets sucked in and out up-stream of the O2 sensors you will get false readinngs.
