oil change. My car has 92,000 miles on it. As most of you may already know, its burning a little bit of oil. Well, its time for a oil change and I wanted to know what would be the best oil to use? please respond fast so i can go buy it and change it today because i will not have anytime 2marow. -thanks!

This time of year you can get away with putting in 20w50 which will help so that it doesn't burn as much oil.

If you are burning up the oil, no use spending the big $$ on synthetics. Just stick to a good name brand and you'll be fine. Same goes for the filter, except stay away from FRAM filters if possible.

if i go with 20w50 can i still add my bottle of additive? and the only options i have for the filter are: fram, bosch, or penzoil? whick is best?

Bottle of additive?

Are you talking about the stuff sold to stop the engine from smoking or burning oil? It's been my experience that these additives do absolutely nothing to help with the problem. And I've had more than my fair share of cars that burn oil.

Yes, you can still use the additive if you want. But I'm confident that moving to a thicker oil (for summer use only) will produce better results than any additive.

Don't you have a Kragen or AutoZone somewhere near you ? They both should stock K&N oil filters for our cars.

yes, there about 3 blocks away from my house and they only carry fram, bocsh, and penzoil! what should i get?

damn dude, what does it matter? get the one you feel like paying the money for. get the one that looks the coolest. or get the one the moron at autozoo suggests. an oil filter is hardly somthing to get all caught up about. I use fram...never had a problem

shell rotella ...its only 15-40, but my brother used it in a high mile 302 once upon a time, dropped a 6 quart in 1200 mile round trip down to 2 1/2 quarts. from then on, thats all he ran in it.

The only reason I like the diesel-spec oils anymore is because they come in the (IMO) all-around best viscosity of 15w-40 and 1gal bottles. If you ever start worrying about zinc content, the newest CJ-certifications will force you away from diesel-spec and toward race oriented oils.

I'm wondering why the engine uses oil if it only has 92k on it.

Now that I think about it, my '68 is probably use for a change. Last time I put fresh oil in was about 18 months and 1500mi ago.

It matters. Its not as common to have it happen on a stock motor but the frams and other cheaper filters like them have been known to come apart internally.

Of your choices, I would say Mobil for the filter.

........But his choices are Fram, Bosch, and Pennzoil.

I'm surprised the Blotto Zone in question doesn't have Motorcrafts. I usually opt for an FL-1A before any others.
