I did a search but could not come up with what I was looking for. I just did the intake swap and wanted to get a timing light so i can make sure i lined it back up right. I have never used a timing light. I read how to set the timing and it seems easy enough. My question is where do you shine the light? Also, i read the you should use chalk or white out to mark the spot. Do you put that mark on the balancer and just shine the light at the mark?

Shine the light down on the balancer right where the timing pointer is.
I marked my balancer with a white paint pen on 0...I use a adv timing light, so I set the dial on the timing gun to 10* and move the distrib untill the white line is right on the pointer which equals 10* base.
If u have a old school light, w/o the adv (dial on the back)...you will have to shine the light on 10 on the balancer for 10*.
Make sure you pull your spout also.
Hope this helps some.

marking your balancer with a white paint pen makes it ten times easier to read.
