timing tip (and power steering pump) for headswaps

I had a head-gasket leak, so had to go back in. Btw, you can't reuse a head gasket even if it's only been on the car for an hour. Once it's compressed, it can't be reused. DOH!!!

I figured out a way to keep the chains from jumping teeth as you set the timing... and before you have put on the chain adjusters (?).

Get the timing set, then pinch the chain and put a zip tie on the middle. Then you can put the chain guides and adjusters in without the chain jumping on the sprockets. Phone pic below.



Also, regarding that 10 mm bolt under the power steering hose at the pump. It was such a PITA that I decided to remove the power steering pulley. That made the bolt super easy to get off, and saved a lot of time. The problem was that the kit that I had to pull OFF the pulley didn't have the right parts to get the pulley back on. And NO auto parts store had the right kit. I had to use another 10mm bolt, nut, and washer, a 2 foot breaker bar, and an HOUR to get it back on.
