Tire pressure

I just got some 275/40/17 used nitto 555r DR's. They still have a lot of tread, but I was wondering what pressure I should be at for everyday driving. I was thinking about 25 or so, but when I got them put on at the tire place they made them pretty hard. I think they are 30 or a little more. I just didn't want to have it to low, because I'm paranoid something could happen. Then again, if it's too hard traction is an issue. What do you guys think I should have it at? For everyday driving including highway.

Tires are meant t be hard, I think it would be around 32 psi, send Nitto an email and ask them. I wouldn't buy used tires next time if i were you.

Why do you want to run DR's every day, on the street? They wear like crazy with regular use and are deadly on wet, sandy and anything that's not perfectly dry, clean pavement. I'd save em for the track and buy a set of street radials for daily driving, were I you.

Nitto 555r are meant to be daily driven as well as track raced. Also, they work better than a normal tire in the rain. I used to have them on my old car and I had a lot better traction in the rain. If my tires spun a little, they would just grip rather then keep spinning. You can tell a pretty big difference with a nitto 555r in the rain, compared to a normal tire. So, I don't know what you mean by "perfectly dry", but that's not true at all. These tires work in both situations.

I'm still confused with why you shouldn't buy a used tire though. People do it all the time. So, just because someone has a pair of tires that they have used for 500 miles, they are horrible? I mean, you can tell how good the tire is by the tread...Where is the risk, besides spending $200 more?

I was told to run DR at 25 psi. Anything above that you will wear the centers out quicker.

I drive with DRs everyday and love them.

Because, the previous owner could have done a lot of crap with the tires, and there could be a lot of stress in the sidewalls from abuse. Also they may have been repaired from punctures, voiding the speed rating. Its the same reason you don't buy used rotors or use brakes lines or used IACs... they make look fine but youdon't know whatthey ahve been trhough.

Tread wear not the only issue with tires...age also...might be just shy of dry rot or splitting. If you know the owner and know exactly how many miles and how old the tires are, I'm sure it'd be fine.

They are dangerous on wet surfaces. However, Mine are mounted 24/7- but
my Stang is not winter driven or used in the rain.
Answer to your question..I run 29-30psi.

Nitto website says 30psi front and back... don't know why you wouldn't search it up for yourself.

First thing is this, drap rds are not for rain PEROID.

Tread depth is what channels the rain away.

I run 40 psi on my tires and have no weird wear patterns or high heat issues.

dont know what the hell everyones problems are, but oh well, I also bought my nitto DR's used and got a hell of a deal, good for you if you did the same, Drag radials are meant to be driven on the street, although I dont drive my car everyday and not during the winter. I usually run mine about 22 psi for daily driving because I have heard about people having wear problems down the center for having them inflated to 30+ psi. I usually drop them down to about 16 at the tack. mine have seemed to wear evenly so far (~4k)

I'm thinking 26 or 27 should be alright. Honestly though, when I used to have DR's in my old car, I noticed a difference that they were better. They wouldn't spin as much. (I don't go around flooring it in the rain though, I'm sure if you drive "normal" on them in the rain, things would be fine)

I drive very normal and keep it real safe. My mother in-law told me I'm too cautious of a driver(scratchen' my head).Anyway, I had to give the Stang some gas to enter a highway(rush hour)during a rainstorm.I stood there spinning my wheels and blowing the oportunity several times.I drive with the DR's but I realize that they are not an asset in damp weather. You can ask everyone their opinion until you hear what you want to hear.They are bad news in the rain and hazardous...don't get overconfident..only takes 1 mishap.
