Is it even going to be worth it to put a Drag Radial on a GT that is just entering the modification world? I was looking at the BFG g-force T/A Drag Radial but is it really nessecary? or would I be better going with the Nitto NT 555? any comments are greatly appreciated, thanks.

A good set of sticky tires is a great way to lower your ET. Are you planning on leaving them on all the time, or or just switching wheels when you get to the track? Remember, the softer the tire, the quicker they will wear out.

Tires are great 'mods', and make up for 50% of your suspension.

If you're stock, you're not exactly making enough power where you would exactly NEED to have them, but it sure does help with traction.

Just take it easy in the rain / wet conditions. I have DRs and have to drive around in the Seattle rainy weather ... sucks going 45 mph on the interstate. But the dry traction absolutely rocks!

If you only hit the track a couple times of year and are tight with cash, then no they're not very practical, but if you spend a lot of time racing, or at the track, they're a must.

Personally, a set of E/T Streets will be the last thing I buy for my car. Why force myself to have to relearn and relearn your driving techniques with every mod that you do, when you can do it once, then get good at it when it's all done. Get good on street tires first, where you learn the characteristics or your car and powerband, then get used to a set of sticky tires and really impress people.
