Ill be replacing my TOB within the next few weeks. I just replaced it about 5K miles ago so that kind of sucks. Is there any trick or certain brand of bearing I should be buying? It seems like a lot of people have these go bad.

Thanks

?: what does it sound like when it goes bad?

i've had the infamous "whine" for a while, but i noticed yesterday that it sounds like it's completely loose somewhere in there, and it's making a horrible "clankity clankity clankity" sound.

Make sure to pick up a quality part. Although a little pricey, this one from FRPP sells one for $35, and I might be inclined to pick it up instead of your bargain bin part from the local parts store. I'd also be looking into why they keep failing at the same time. How do the fingers on the pressure plate look? How about the bearing retainer? Still running the factory quadrant, or have an adjustable one now? Too much pressure on the cable when the clutch is released, or sitting with your foot on the clutch pedal while idling or in gear adds unnecessary stress on the TOB, and will cause one to fail prematurely.

Yeah I just ordered a new clutch kit for mine and should have it in by the end of this week but I was wondering the same thing. What could be done to keep these darn TOB's from squeaking... Extra grease before install??? If so what kind of grease???
