I have to replace my TOB. It is chirping and Im really tired of it. I plan on putting the TKO in like next year but i wanted to fix this problem at the moment. Is any TOB going to work or should i get some kind of aftermarket one? I was going to get one from napa or something unless you guys think that Im going to have a problem with it

You could spray it with lithium grease I think and it should stop squeaking until you get the TKO.

Is there a special technique to this? I took the little plate off and shot white lithium onto the TOB but it started squeaking like a mofo again after like 10 mins.

I tried the same thing and stopped for like 5 mins. :bang:

Anyone else have any ideas? I have been hearing that alot of people have problems with chirping and I just want to get one that is half way decent that I wont have problems with.

Yeah I just found a motorsports one for 35 bucks. Ill probably go and pick it up tommorrow and grease the input shaft correctly this time. LOL

well the Frpp one is nothing more then a re-boxxed stock Ford one, in which you paid @$10.00 more for it.
one thing about TOB is clutch itself, there are varrations in p/p and clutch thickness and run-out that can cause the TOB to make noise, so just dont think its the bearings fault. I had great luck wth RAM's TOB, think the part # is 501

I had put the ram one in originally with the ram clutch i bought. I didnt originally grease anything at all so i think i may have damaged it when i put it in. I got that one because i didnt want to just get one from the autoparts store and it suck. I plan on replacing the transmission along with obviously everything else in the next year or two with either a T56 or a TKO 600, so I basically just wanted something to get by with.

When I bought my 00 GT used last june, my TOB started chirping after a couple weeks. It got worse, and I finally replaced the bearing. All was well for several thousand miles, then it started coming back lightly, and eventually it was back to the way it was. Funny thing is, sometimes I do hear it chirp, but its actually gotten better after it got worse, so I really dont know what the deal is.

I have also noticed that alot of people talk about greasing the bearings during install, but for the OEM bearing it specifically says in the factory service manual not to lubricate the bearing because they are already lubricated from the factory. When I pulled mine out of the bag, it certainly wasnt bone dry, but I dont know.
